I'm Pissed
I don't post much but I'm really pissed.... the "internet" continues to fail me. Tim Berners Lee (inventor of the world wide web) has the same view.

State of the internet
This is the first time I have hit a quota on my broadband from Comcast and it is only going to get worse with the net neutrality repeal. Facebook is failing us with the data security issues. The internet has become too centralized and too few companies dictate and control the services we use on top of it. It's built on old tech that is insecure and liable to DDOS attacks (think bad guys flooding netflix on Christmas and causing it to go down when you wanna watch your favorite movie) and there is no trust layer protocol (think fake accounts being created to mine our demographic data and manipulate news based on false information).
Hope
There is hope in decentralization technologies. Mesh networks and distributed ledger technologies will be the underlying tech for the next wave of internet innovation. Comcast will hopefully become obsolete and taken over by mesh networks controlled by linking our personal devices together. Facebook will fail and be overtaken by shared communities (swirlds) we create and own our own data and simply consent apps to use portions we deem acceptable. This technology is being built today. Many won't understand it but in the end it will be easier to use than the current tech we have today. you will have fine grain control over it and make money off it too!
The future
These up and coming technologies will fix a lot of these problems in time. Many of them will pay you to use the app, since after all, its your data!
