A Peek Into My World

in #introblog2 days ago

Hi everyone, I'm mjlaxel from the Philippines. I grew up in a large family with eight siblings. My mother works hard as a laborer, selling fruits and food under the scorching sun, while my father does nothing but drink alcohol. I’ve witnessed my mother’s incredible hard work. She struggles daily to send us to school, often borrowing money from our neighbors just to make it happen. Despite her challenges, she always finds a way to buy us milk, even when money is tight. Seeing my mother’s struggle to provide for our family made me desire to create a better life for myself and my loved ones. I’ve committed to overcoming obstacles and achieving my goals, motivated by the belief that I can build a brighter future.

I worked hard to put myself through college and earned a 100% scholarship from a prestigious university. However, life was challenging, and after receiving an 84 in one of my subjects, I lost the scholarship. Despite that setback, I applied to be a working student, which reduced my tuition by 50%. I also pursued every part-time job I could find, and thankfully, I was able to graduate.

I thought that after graduating and officially stepping into adulthood, life would become easier. I envisioned a world where responsibilities would feel lighter and the struggles of school would fade into the background. However, I soon realized that the hardships I faced during my academic years were nothing compared to the challenges that adulthood presents. Suddenly, I was facing a complicated world filled with bills, job decisions, and the pressure to build a stable future. The freedom I had longed for felt overwhelming, with every choice carrying unexpected consequences. I realized that becoming an adult wasn’t a simple path; it was a series of challenges that required me to be resilient, adaptable, and to understand myself and the world better.

In 2015, I got pregnant, got married, and was blessed with the arrival of my beautiful baby boy. I have no regrets—well, maybe sometimes I have thoughts like, "I could have been more prepared." I could have built a house first, or perhaps even gotten a car that would make life easier. I also sometimes think about all the places I once wished to travel to. I could have explored more.

Currently, I work from home as a BPO employee, which I find a bit ironic since I’m somewhat of an introvert. While I tend to be on the quieter side, I truly enjoy deep conversations and meaningful connections. I love reading, especially horror and supernatural stories, and I find exploring nature incredibly refreshing. I love trees and mountains, I have a particular fondness for these natural wonders, feeling a deep connection to the earth when I’m among them; though I’m not a fan of the sea.

Life doesn’t always give you sweetness; sometimes, it throws you lemons. I’m 32 now, and I often feel like I haven’t come very far—I feel stuck. Each day can feel like a struggle, and I battle with depression and negative thoughts that comes to my mind. However, I know that if it weren’t for my son, I might not be here today. He brings light to my darkest moments and reminds me of the joy that life can hold. His laughter and love motivate me to keep going. Every day, I strive to be a better parent and find ways to nurture hope, not just for myself but for him as well.

But then, I’m a Leo, one of the strongest zodiac signs, known for our fierce determination and passion. Born in the Year of the Monkey, which is characterized by wit and intelligence, I’ve made the decision to fight for my future. I understand that success isn’t something that happens overnight; it’s a journey that requires patience and perseverance. I’m committed to taking it one step at a time, celebrating the small victories along the way and learning from setbacks. Joining this platform is a significant step on that journey, and I’m excited to connect with others who share similar goals and aspirations.

I’m ready to face the obstacles ahead with an open mind and positivity. I apologize for the lengthy introduction—I have so much more to share about my experiences, dreams, and the lessons I’ve learned. But I’ll save that for my future posts, where I hope to engage with all of you more deeply. Thank you for being part of this journey with me!
