Hello Steemians! After my husband (@pollux.one) keeps on telling me about Steemit and he does not tire persuade me of accepting Steem as a currency, I decided to open an account and to introduce myself.
My name is Sabine and I cooking is my life. I would even say, cooking is my form of yoga.
Of course I won´t give away my age...
When our kids came to this world, a lot of things changed. I were, too, thinking about what to do about a healthy nutrition, because it is well known, that you are what you eat. So we began producing our baby-food on ourselves using fresh ingredients from the region. This was on the one hand very delicious and healthy, but on the other hand a surprisingly favourable price. Later, our kids of course wanted to ketchup add to every meal. This being not very healthy (ketchup contains more than 30% sugar), we "brew" our own alternative. We used thickened pear juice instead of the sugar and the result was amazingly tasty. And the best of it... We knew what was "in it"!
Today it is not possible to buy regular ketchup, our kids won´t eat it. It´s not tasty enough and sometimes they even went ill (because they are not used to glutamate and chemical food additives). Somehow this got about fast. Friends and relatives asked for our delicious ketchup and if we had a small bottle left... if we could make some more "We will of course pay it!"
Quickly we had to produce some litres of our ketchup on a regular base to keep up with new orders. We then decided to lift this up to a more professional level and to start a real business. We needed a name... somehow we came up with the French name of my step grandmother "Jeandel". La Maison Jeandel means something like "at home with the family Jeandel".
We had to fulfil a lot requirements by state law, so we build a second kitchen and a room for the display of our products. This was in the year 2013.
Meanwhile this whole thing has grown. Still it is a side-business, but the product range contains more than 50 different articles. Everything is handmade by me alone and I still use if possible fresh and regional products after the season ( I guess it´s clear that Mangos are not regionally available). Today our range contains different barbecue sauces, fruit spreads (I am not allowed to call it marmelade or jam, because they have not enough sugar in it), fruit vinegar and even cookies like Cantuccini. My kitchen is so much appreciated, that even delicatessen stores and gastronomy is buying our products.
The next step was to think about gluten and sugar. Now almost all our products are available with Xylit (better known as birch sugar), which makes them consumable by diabetics and our cookies can be made with pure spelt flour or cornmeal. At request a lot of foods can be produced taking into account food intolerances. Finally we added hampers and xenia for marriages (individualized).
Finally we added hampers and xenia for marriages (individualized).
Of course we continue to try new and interesting taste combinations.
AND NOW... we add some Steem!
Many roads lead to Rome (as we say in German). This means that there are different ways of doing something:
1) You come visit my (after an appointment), you taste everything, you choose what you like and you pay with steemdollars
2) You come to one of my markets (I will provide the actual dates here), you taste everything, you choose what you like and you pay with steemdollars
3)You send me an email, I send you the actual product list, you choose what you like, I send you an invoice, you pay with steemdollars and I send worldwide (we even have clients in Singapur)
Of course it is always possible to pay "normally" with Euros or Dollars.
Furthermore I want to inform you here about new creations and also I want to let you have a look over my shoulder while cooking.
So long... Yours, Sabine
last but not least a big thanks to the person who created this button (I wasn´t able to find the source)
Very nice stuff! Nice post! Welcome aboard :)
Thx, great to be welcomed this warmly!
Welcome to the Steemit Community. You had me at homemade ketchup and barbecue. There were some ingredients I've never heard of but anything healthier and natural than what is mass produced by corporations, I'm all for supporting. I'll be looking forward to your future post. Since you have over 50 articles to present to all of us, we'll have plenty of updates from you in the future I'm sure. Upvoted and followed. Feel free to check my page for short stories, poems and real life experiences. Best of success to your business!
Thank you, following... (and read if I have some time left besides cooking)
