First off I would like to thank Luke Rudkowski of wearechange.org for sharing this website. I think this is a great opportunity for creative writers of all forms to reach a wide audience and actually be compensated for their contributions.
I’ve been writing since I was a child, art and poetry mostly being my creative outlet until I immersed myself in music during my teen years. But poetry was always a constant, whether I was writing lyrics for the bands I worked with or just on my own. Poetry has always been the herpes of my creative process, it comes and goes but it never leaves.
My biggest inspiration is hardship so expect a lot of ranting and venting on my pages. My mission here is to make my posts a place where people can air their emotional baggage which is why I’m referring to my posts as “real talk”. I don’t plan on doing much editing or revising. I think Charles Bukowski and Doug Stanhope have always had the best approach, when it came to speaking from the heart they shot from the hip.
I hope this will become a great forum for people to discuss things they don’t feel comfortable discussing with their friends, family, clergy, hell- even their pets. Political, theoretical, psychological, cultural, ideological, conspiracy theories, anything goes. No safe space here.
I’ve endured my fair share of hardship. Grew up with mentally abusive parents, suffered from serious depression since I was 5 years old, dug myself in a hole and destroyed my childhood, alienated myself from normal growing achievements, successes, and relationships, got kicked out of my house numerous times, spent the better part of 2 years living out of my car, wound up with some fellow lost kids and became a street punk, robbed people, broke into homes, restaurants, sold drugs, joined the army, became an infantryman, and gained a greater perspective of the true horrors of the American empire far beyond my own petty problems… and now I am turning everything around. It’s still a work in progress, certainly a slow crawl out of the abyss, but what is life without it’s challenges? Plain oatmeal perhaps, or unflavored bubble gum, or awesome sex with no scars… anyway it is a hell of a ride. Maybe I’ll dive into all that past drama in future posts, I hope I can help others avoid the mistakes I have made and ultimately assist others towards becoming their highest and best selves. I certainly will share my experience with depression and what I did to overcome it so stay tuned fellow troubled internet people. In the meantime please enjoy my crappy poetry.
