How I bought my Sailboat investing in Silver and Introduction

in #introducemyself8 years ago (edited)

I should introduce myself. I'am Tom. Living in Florida where I was born. I have worked as a computer operator and system analyst. I graduated from a Junior College and transferred to the University of North Florida, an accredited computer science school. I studied computer science and Information science. My counselor told me I had the right to attend. So I studied computer science and information science. Computer science was over my head. Although, I did learn about vectors, scalars and some "APL". I had to switch to Information science. Information science, back in the day, was a COBOL based business oriented program of study. It is now a Java based program. After twenty years plus of work in IS, I am now retired.

Before retirement and working as an operator on third shift. A fellow worker and myself started looking at silver and gold as an investment. I wish now I had taken a serious look at Bitcoin. Oh well. This was 2010 or earlier.
I am the kind of person who finds it difficult to save and easy to spend money. The idea came to me to spend money to make money. but how?

So, how to do this........

I started following sliver and gold spot prices. Back in the day, a good buy was $10 an ounce for a silver round.
That was more than Bitcoin. I would look for below spot silver rounds and trash silver dollars on eBay and buy them up. A trash silver dollar, 1963 and earlier, has .777 ounces of silver in it. I also started following sail boat prices on eBay. I was looking for a Morgan Out Island at a good price.

After about a year there was a convergence of accumulated silver and boat price. I bid on a 28.5 food Morgan Out Island and won. I grabbed my brief case, emptied my safe deposit box of the silver rounds and carried them to the local metal exchange. This was not a salvage yard, but more like a coin shop. You had to buzz to get in and the owner and staff were packing heat. The owner counted my rounds, checked the exchange rate and counted me out one hundred dollar bills.

I met the owner of the sailboat and exchanged the money for the title. I lived on the boat in St Augustine Florida for one year and moved it to Green Cove Springs where I lived on it for about five years. I now live in a dumpy apartment, but plotting and planning for my next boat. I wonder how? To be continued.......

This is my second post, my first was a complete failure. I am learning
