Hello people of Steemit my name is Rory. I am from Scotland and am currently a student in my final year of high school studying Physics, Mathematics and Mathematics of Mechanics at Advanced Higher. Next year I plan on going to university to study Physics.
I have been involved in music for 9 years and am currently play violin and more recently have started to learn piano. I also like gaming on PC having built a new rig not long ago and have been exploring and revisiting different titles such as Overwatch, Broforce, the Portal series, Cities Skylines, Human Fall Flat and a few others.
I am very interested in photography, focusing mainly on nature and landscapes, I got myself a DSLR camera and some lenses a little over two years ago and have taken them on most walks and interesting places I go to. below are a few of my personal top pictures I’ve taken since the beginning:
This is one of my favourite animal photos, a wild rabbit roaming in the hills beside the village of Tarbert, Scotland, at Tarbert Castle.
This is one of my earliest photos taken in my Grans garden pond, I was still learning the basics back then but I think it came out well.
This picture was taken in Kintyre, I particularly like the colours and composition as well as the shallow depth of field.
If people are interested I would be happy to share the stories of these photos in future posts.
I am also interested in 3D Printing and bought my own 3D Printer a few years ago. It has been lying dormant for a while but I hope to get back into creating and showcasing my future projects for you all.
These are the main things I hope to share with everyone in this great community (as well as some interesting facts for fun!). I feel very glad to have found Steemit in its relative infancy and hope to contribute to its already amazing growth as a rich and diverse social network platform.
Thanks for taking the time to read my first post, it means a lot. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have in the comments below.

Thanks for your kind words.
Welcome! Love the pond photo!
Thanks it definitely inspired me to carry on pursuing photography.
Hello Rory, its good that you're going to take Physics. You are a rare breed. Keep doing all your hobbies, they're great.
3D printers are expensive in my country. Im amazed that you have one at home. haha
Thank you very much. That's really unlucky to hear about the printer situation where you are, mine is a open style one that didn't cost too much at the time. If you're willing to take a little bit of risk you can normally get quite good deals to most countries from chinese sellers on places like gearbest, although it is usually unknown brands and import duties and such can be a pain. Saying all that they are incredibly cool pieces of technology and being able to think of your own designs and then bringing your thoughts into the real world in a single day is pretty incredible.
The 3D printer we have is for our biomedical labs where we use it to print some microfluidic devices. haha. Import duties and sometimes it takes months to receive an imported item. Anyway, Thanks.
A BIG warm welcome to Steemit! I am sure you are going to absolutely enjoy the Steemit platform.👍 Please let me know if I can be of future help with Steemit. I truly hope Steemit exceeds all your expectations!👍

Thank you very much, your photos look great as well, especially the one of the reflection of the forest in the water.
