It's always hard to make the right decisions in life; the decision to follow your passions.
After two weeks on Steemit I decided it's time to share some details from my life, even though most of the times I like to keep those things private.
I was born on a hot summer day in June, under the sign of Gemini. I don't know if astrology is your thing but I was passionate about it a long time ago. As you may know it's the sign of duality, multiplicity; so basically I change my mind really fast and love doing multiple things at the same time, and that's not a good thing, trust me.
As a kid I was interested in arts; painted on glass, mostly religious stuff. As time passed I was 'encouraged' to take on more realistic, left sided brain habits. I played chess, even won a newspaper contest and a local tournament for boys and girls my age. My proudest moment was when I got to meet Margareta Muresan, third time winner of the women's Romanian Chess Championship. She was nice enough to play some chess games with the kids at the chess club. Those were the good times!
Moving on to high school, I got admitted in a math-computer class; It was alright, made some new friends. When the time came to graduate I was craving for a change; got tired of all that math, needed to explore my creativity more; I found a college that taught Industial Design. I was thinking that this way I will somehow combine science and art together. Well that was not the case; It was apparent from the start that design was a small percent of the class. Again with many classes of math, computers and other science classes; Don't get my wrong, I learned some useful things but most of it I forgot. Finally the last year came and I got to study Industrial Design and some Graphic Design.
This was a Technical University so it took me four years to graduate as an Engineer. Fresh out of college started looking for a job. After a while I found one as a technical drawer in Rhinoceros. It wasn't the Engineer title that everyone wanted to be in their resume, but I was fine with it. Time passed and something kept bothering me. This wasn't what I wanted to do in my life. Mid-life crisis hit earlier than expected and my inner creative self wasn't happy.
Escape to Italy
I took a break and went to Italy; apparently the air breeze from the sea inspired me. Searching online for a wacom tablet to help rekindle my passion for drawing I found a popular site for freelancing. Made an account and entered a logo to a design contest; but no luck there. I didn't gave up that easy and started submitting in more contests.
And one day the magic happened, I won. It was a great feeling and I was somehow hooked.
(some logos that I've made over time - the Over my dead body was done for Steven Kunes for a Netflix series that was suppose to happen)
Returning home to Romania, yes Ro-ma-nia, I kept freelancing. But of course family can help you get doubts and that's what happened. I was thinking that four years of Technical University went to drain. So I applied for a Mechanical Engineer job; that's the closest I could find to my training. Well that didn't last either. After three days it was clear more than ever that this wasn't my path so I quit my job.
180 degree turn
I joined an art school that taught graphics. Yes that's right, a 180 degree move from my life. In a three year period I revived my creative self, learned to draw better; experimented with new techniques. I am so grateful that I got to meet some talented people.
During the three year period I got a job as a graphic designer drawing 2d floor plans; got the opportunity to polish my 3DS Max skills and soon I was making interior/exterior design renders. The main thing that I enjoyed learning at University were modelling software: Solidworks, Catia, 3DS Max.
So after all nothing was a waste, it all worked out fine!
I may have had a bumpy ride to get here but I enjoy what I do and that's what matters to me!
I want to share with you a project, that is a work in progress; interior design for living/kitchen and bathroom.
Here are some renders.
I have so many more things that I would like to share with you guys but I didn't want this to be a long boring story.
I won't include a photo of me holding a piece of paper, because I have done it in my previous posts; I even help a piece of wood in case you missed it; that's me. And a picture with some of my high school friends reunited at a wedding; the park was right across the street from the City Hall.
