All Things Sustainable

in #introduceyourself8 years ago (edited)

Hello fellow Steemers,

Arbutus (Arbutus menziesii) is a broadleaf evergreen tree that grows on the west coast of Canada and the United States. It's one of my favourite trees and I think it represents a lot of things to a lot of people.

Everyone can relate to a tree and all the benefits they bring to our planet and the aesthetics we imbue on them. Have you ever heard anyone that says "I hate trees?" More to the point, photosynthesis is arguably the most important earthly process on the planet. It provides most of the energy we use today through the storage of hydrocarbons, helps keep oxygen levels to sustain our lives, and powers all of our food production. We take it for granted; when was the last time you ever saw someone protesting to save photosynthesis!

As you can tell by now, I'm somewhat of a greenie but I am not an environmental terrorist. I support wise use of fossil fuels until we build out a more sustainable and economic energy supply. Things are happening, and I will be scouring steemit for the latest technologies, especially integrated systems that use passive/active solar, geothermal, and wind. I will also be on the lookout for less conventional and controversial alternative energy supplies like fusion or those systems called "free energy", if they exist :).

I am interested in steemit to expand my awareness of all things sustainable and join in the conversations to add power to the digital bloggers/vloggers and now steemers.

Trees are the answer!

Welcome @arbutus to the Steemit community! So glad you joined us and I eagerly await your future posts.

Most importantly, the answer is keeping the balance of the ecosystem. I'm also interested in sustainable energy sources. There are several issues with many of these technologies as they are still new but I'm positive that they get better day by day.

@elemnya - Thanks for your comment and I agree wholeheartedly. Things are getting better day by day and new "sharing" technologies are beginning to disrupt traditional forms of energy production/consumption and transportation. We are also witnessing a struggle between global energy providers and community waking up to more local production of food and energy. There is hope :)

Hey cool post arbutus, happy steeming!

Thank you
