Bitcoin Affiliate: From Rags to Riches and Back to Rags Again!

in #introduceyourself8 years ago

Howdy Steemit! My name is Arsen, I am 26 and I am earning 4 BTC monthly on Bitcoin related affiliate websites… That’s how I would start my introduction one month ago. To tell you the truth, at this moment my Bitcoin wage ceiling is less than a half of a coin. What happened? You will find out later.

Monthly traffic of my main website

Chapter 1: The Beginning

First of all I would like to ask you not to blame me for a poor English. I was born in a country where bears are walking on the streets, while playing balalaika and drinking vodka :) My experience of being a webmaster and affiliate has started about 5 years ago. If you ever tried to create a website, you probably know how the first efforts look like. If not, here is a small illustration:

But, like any other business, hard work and training would lead to success. As it turned out it is not so hard to make a good website. Besides of registering domain and hosting you need to make 5 steps:

  • Install free CMS (Content Management System)
  • Find a free Template
  • Search for a low competitive keywords
  • Write unique content
  • Write a lot of unique content!

You cannot imagine, how happy I was to get my first 100 dollar check from Google AdSense! The question: “How to earn more” has led me to get more information about narrow niches. That was a moment for a great opportunity.

Chapter 2: Bitcoin

Cryptocurrency is the perfect choice for a website subject: it is new, perspective and low competitive. There are several ways to earn on Crypto-services:

  • Gambling
  • Mining
  • Exchanges
  • Faucets
  • HYIPs

All of these directions allow you to receive a revenue share for a targeted traffic. For a year and a half of my Bitcoin journey I have tried to promote 4 of 5 types of services from that list. It is very hard to stay a high moral person when you promote gambling, but for some reason my conscience did not allow me to push HYIPs.

At this moment I own 4 English, 3 Russian, 1 Spanish and 1 German website.

Some of them are pretty new, some of them did not perform well yet, but I continuously doing my job to make them better.

Chapter 3: Earnings

Here comes the most interesting part of this story. After a year of a hard work, one of my websites started to bring me minimum 4 BTC every month. Other projects were too young and I did not spend much time on developing them, concentrating on breadwinner. That was a big mistake…

The most of profit came from promoting Gambling and Cloud Mining services. You don’t need a lot of traffic to get a nice revenue here. It is like the fishing: one whale can easily feed you for a month. Exchanges and Faucets presume a different approach: you need to catch many small fishes, so a huge traffic in needed to make a decent dinner.

One day I logged in Google Analytics stats and saw this:

The most of my traffic gone and took away a massive part of my earnings with it! No, this was not a hosting problem… No, I was not penalized by Google…

You can make a guess in comments below and next time I will tell you what happened, how did I earn my first Bitcoin and what are my plans!

Stay tuned and follow up!
