Hello Steemians!
Although I have known about Steemit for some time now I haven't taken the leap of faith to use the platform and connect with like-minded people thus far. Im planning on shaking all that up, starting now.
First a little about myself. My name is Ben and i'm an Osteopath living in the far north of NZ. For those who don't know what an Osteopath is or does, we are simply mechanics for bodies. I plan to go into the philosophy and thinking behind what I do in future posts :)
This is me on the left standing next to my idol on the right. Let me know below if you know who he is :D
For the most part I like to soak up the sun on one of our many beautiful beaches while hanging out with mates listening to tunes. Im totally crypto mad since first learning about it 18 months ago and try my best to contribute to the space and thriving community that encompasses it.
In my downtime I am always learning new things that I would like to share and discuss with fellow steemians.
Subjects of interest include but are no limited to; biomechanics, neuroscience, pain science, crytpo, astrophysics, poker, environment and sustainability, health and fitness (especially natural health)
When i'm not boring my followers with educational content ;) I plan to showcase some of NZ's natural beauty and give snippets into my life when I think i've got something interesting to show.

You can see these projects here. Some of these projects provide you the ability to interact and engage within the community and have the potential to provide rewards for your engagement. For example, @actifit is a fitness app that tracks your daily activity which you can post to the blockchain and earn rewards for your participation. Another interesting project is @steemmonsters which is a digital trading card game that enables you to collect and battle with the community all within the #STEEM ecosystem. Discord is a separate site/app which allows people to chat and publish info. It's popular with gamers (non-Steemit), and you'll notice many Steemit groups use it.
This is the wiki, but I'm not sure it is really clear enough to give you a sense of what you're walking into, lol.

Nice to meet you, Ben! Welcome to steemit. I really do love philosophy! I haven't noticed many people on steemit have taken this approach. Would be nice to read some of your thoughts on philosophy. Alan Watts is my favorite philosopher of our modern life :)

Welcome to the community @bengiles! Here in the platform you can do a lot of things to grow your authorship. Follow your favorite authors to help you learn new things and become a great author as well.

While it's true that everybody can earn from content creation and curation, the best practice is to not expect anything in return. You won't get tired writing beautiful contents if you love what you do.
Do you find it hard to keep up with the game? Try adding value to your content and let others authors see value in it too. Don't be afraid to express your thoughts and make good contents.

I visited NZ in 2015. A great country! I do like it!
By the way, I've been trying to support newcomers to #Steemit and planktons. So, I have uploaded some videos with tips for Newcomers. If you want you can watch them. They are very short. The videos may be useful to you.

If you mind me asking what parts of NZ did you see?
@bengiles, in 2015 I visited NZ at the end of September. I arrived in Auckland. I stayed in Auckland for 3-4 days. I visited Waitomo Caves. I visited also Hobbiton. Than I travelled by bus to Rotorua. It's a beautiful place, and as I was told it is the Maori capital. I visited many other places in the Rotorua area (I just did some day-trips). Then I went by bus to Wellington. I stayed in Wellington for 3-4 days. You can see that my main pictures in Steemit is in the Reserve bank of New Zealand, Wellington. Later I took the ferry and travelled over the Cook Strait to Picton. From Picton I took the bus and travelled to Christchurch. On the way to Christchurch the bus stopped for 1-2 hours at Kaikoura.
I was in NZ for 10-13 days. It was incredible journey.

@cryptospa, Awesome trip man, always makes me happy knowing tourists have had a good time here.
If you get the opportunity to come over again i'd definitely recommend checking out the far north of the country (summer only) or if you hitting the slopes is more your cup of tea, Queenstown is definitely your one stop shop!
