A Little Bit of Everything - My Introduction

I think it is time I finally introduce myself. (This will not be a short introduction)

I have been creeping around Steem for awhile and might I say, I am thoroughly interested in the possibilities that Steem has to offer. For the longest time I have wanted to start a blog to explain my thoughts about the world and everything that interests me in it. I have a huge love for the endless possibilities in life and I can’t help but feel that reaching out to others and helping them learn and experience who they are and what they want in life is extremely important.

But before I get into who I am, I want to create a little table to explain what I will be talking about. Feel free to skip around to areas that interest you.

Who I am:

  1. A millennial.
  2. Sufferer of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, OCD. (Pure O)
  3. A nerd
  4. A metal head
  5. Tattooed
  6. Political lover
  7. Random information enthusiast.
  8. Security Analyst
  9. TL;DR

One 1. A Millennial

I was born in 1993 to an upper middle class family with a loving and supporting family. I was given many advantages in life, mainly, caring parents that you would imagine to be the American dream. My father was my soccer coach, (along with my siblings soccer coaches). My parents attended every extracurricular activity that my siblings and I were participating in. I don’t take for granted what I had when growing up. My parents gave me what I needed, but made me work for what I wanted.

While other kids got any video game they wanted, I had to mow lawns to make money for a new game, or sell my old games to buy the new one everyone was playing. This made me work hard for what I wanted and only get what was important to me. I am extremely grateful for my parents. They could have given their children almost anything they wanted, but they made us work for the things we wanted and it instilled specific morals into us.

Being a Millennial comes with a lot of judgement. I am thought to be impatient, one that feels they deserve everything, and a snowflake. While I can’t speak for most of my generation, I can say that is extremely for from the truth of who I am. I work very hard for who I am and I know what I want to be. I have high expectations of myself and want to work hard for everything that I get in life. I thank my parents everyday for instilling those qualities into who I am so that I am not another person who just expects to get everything and not give anything in return.

Two 2. Sufferer of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, OCD. (Pure O)

I have a form of OCD which is called Pure O. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a disorder that consists of certain receptors in a person's brain being unable to communicate correctly with each other. This forces a person with OCD to have extreme anxiety over certain triggers that give us anxiety.

While most people have compulsive things that they do to fix their obsessions, hence the C in OCD, I have something called pure O. Pure O OCD is the idea that instead of being compulsive with activities I do physically, I obsess over certain thoughts that can make me spiral into a negative anxiety attack.

Fortunately, I feel this has also made me a better person. Having OCD has caused me to internalize a lot of my own feelings and make me understand who I am as a person. Understanding my triggers and why I respond a certain why is important to understanding my anxiety and being able to overcome my disorder.

Three 3. A nerd

I have been a nerd my whole life. Growing up, my parents always had technology in the house. Not being given everything I asked for, I was given a lot of hand me down technology which forced me to learn how to wipe old computers, look for new parts to add to old rigs, learn how to download and crack software to use it in ways it was not meant to be used, and much more.

I have loved video games my whole life. We had a Nintendo 64 growing up and my favorite game was Crash Bandicoot and 007 golden eye. This console was followed by PS1, PS 2, Xbox then xbox 360. Some big game titles I have been addicted to in my life are Runescape, Halo2, World of Warcraft, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, GTA, Rocket League, and soon to be Destiny 2 when it comes out for PC.

My gaming platform in current days is completely PC based. I have quite a powerful rig that allows me to play any game at max in 4k. I build my own rigs and sometimes have to buy all my pieces at separate times, one piece a month, because of the power that I want in my rig. I have an addiction to having the best. If I am going to spend money on something, I want it to be the best and highest quality item so that it lasts the longest and I get the most worth out of it.

Four 4. Metal head

Perhaps metal head isn’t exactly the correct wordage. I mainly love Post-hardcore, Rock, and Alternative rock. These genres speak to me in ways that others do not. I love to listen to music for two reasons. One, the beat of rock/metal songs just seems to be a beat that speaks to me on the inside. I have wondered often what some people love about country that I hate about country, and I feel it has to be the patterns and rhythm in the genres themselves. I love a double bass drum and crazy guitar riffs.

The second reason I love the genres I do is they seem to have deeper meanings in their lyrics. My favorite bands are bands that have stories behind their music. A message to share with the world that empowers those who listen to it. My favorite band of all time is Crown the Empire. CTE has some very powerful songs that speak to me in a political way. As a lover of politics, which I will get into later, a song that can speak to me about self empowerment and being able to speak up for what you believe, is a song I will get addicted too.

Some other bands that I love are bands such as Memphis May Fire (Another favorite for empowering songs), Rage Against The Machine, Dangerkids, A Day To Remember, Bullet For My Valentine, Of Mice And Men, Asking Alexandria, and many more. Feel free to talk to me about almost any type of music that has a wonderful meaning behind the lyrics!

Five 5. Tattooed

I have a love for tattoos. I currently have 7 tattoos. My first tattoo I got with my parents consent at the age of 16 for my late grandfather. My second and third tattoos were for my grandparents and were on my ribs. I also have two separate back tattoos, and arm tattoo, and a hidden white tattoo on visible part of my body that no one ever notices. (I am quite pale)

Six 6. Political lover

I have a certain love for politics. And I also have a hate for politics. Politics, for me, is something that can protect consumers while pushing for free growth in a capitalist society. Both sides of the isle, Republican vs Democrat, speaking of America, anger me to a level that is ridiculous. BOTH sides push towards the extreme to pull in the people on the extremes and they leave out those who are centrists. While I lean more left, I refuse to identify with any party. I am simply a person who has a mixture of beliefs and one party will not represent all of them.

Democrats can’t stop playing identity politics and crying about every little thing under the world, while Republicans can’t stop caring only about their pocket books. It saddens me that the Republicans constantly talk about State’s rights, capitalism, and extreme regulations. Yet, they currently want to ruin the ability for states to have legal Marijuana, they constantly push for laws and regulations on green energies to protect dying industries that are well beyond their years.

How can a body that supposedly believes in capitalism want to STOP new markets from growing to save old markets? It seems to me that the Republican side only cares about certain talking points when it serves them. Completely throwing away these same talking points when it benefits them in some other way.
And this doesn’t mean Democrats are off the hook for the things that they do. Taking extreme amounts of money from lobbyists like the right does and not paying attention to the hard working Americans that are in the rural areas of America. There is a reason why the working class in rural areas do not vote for Democrats, and I don’t think it is because the Republicans actually care about them.

I feel drastic changes need to be made to the political system in America as a whole. I love to debate politics as every time I debate, I change someone's viewpoint or learn something new that I did not know beforehand. To me, politics is a humongous puzzle that could possibly have an answer. I strive to try and find that answer.

Seven 7. Random Information Enthusiast

I love random information. I love reading articles about random facts and new technologies. I love looking at subreddits such as r/dataisbeautiful which gives me a statistical look at some random topic that someone else found interesting. I love learning new things and adding to my ever growing knowledge about the world and how it works.

If anyone ever has any interesting information, please feel free to link me to it in some way. New things excite me in ways I cannot explain. New things like possibilities in future technologies, Quantum computing, Quantum communication, Light CPU’s, new medical breakthroughs, nano bots fighting cancer, and so much more. If it seems even the slightest bit cool, I will probably love it.

Eight 8. Security Analyst/Career

Finally, I am a person who has enjoyed being very private my whole life. While I am an outgoing person, keeping my information mine has always been very important to me. That is why I chose the field of Information Assurance and Security and I have just been hired on to a fortune 50 company to work on their Triage team in their SOC.

I am excited to start a new career in a field that I love and expect a lot from myself. My plan is to try to slowly climb the corporate ladder to some day be in a leadership position. While I enjoy technology and learning about it, I also enjoy working and talking with people. There is a certain joy I get when helping someone else realize their potential and push them towards something great.

As Simon Sinek says, “You are not in charge, you are responsible for those in your charge.”

Nine 9. TL;DR

I have way too many interests and this does not include them all. Geeky, Political, Tattooed, Security Centered, millennial. I cannot be stereotyped because I fall into too many of them.

Bonus:

I have a wonderful shih-tzu named Amara. She was born December 14th, 2016. Her tongue is probably out like that 50% of her life. Too adorable to be mad at her.

Hey! Super nice post, thanks for sharing!! I believe you'll likt it here :D see you around!

Excellent introduction. Wonderfully thorough.

Not sure on the medical marijuana laws up in Alaska, though have you ever tried testing CBD oil (Phoenix Tears or other) for the Pure O condition? I know it's been effective for a number of different neurological-based disorders. If you haven't, might be worth a try to get ahold of some a test out.

Welcome to Steemit. I'm sure you'll have a lot of great stuff to share... :-)

So I actually live in Illinois, moving to Texas soon, but medical marijuana is only legal for really bad diseases and does currently not count for any mental related illnesses.

Hmm. If you would be interested, perhaps check out if could mail order from this company, I’ve had friends from all over the States order and recommend:
