Photographer, traveler, teacher, developer... and now Steemit User!

Hello Steemit

![charlie copy.jpg]()

My name is Charlie and I’m new to Steemit. I am a filmmaker, photographer, cyclist, snowboarder, teacher, traveler, cryptocurrency enthusiast and web developer.

About Me

I studied filmmaking in college in Chicago. After studying film for 4 years, I realized that I really enjoyed watching movies more than making them. So that was pretty much the end of my film career. (Hopefully, some fellow film fans will recognize where my username is from). Since then, I’ve spent most of my time travelling while working. I worked as a tour guide in Australia, a photography teacher in Peru, studied Spanish in Ecuador, worked as an English teacher for 2 years at a school in Spain and taught English at summer camps in Poland and Czechia.

Here’s me after hiking a glacier in South America:

What I Do Now

I got into web development about a year and a half ago. I started with all the typical online resources (Codecademy, Free Code Camp, The Odin Project). After doing that for about 9 months, I attended Le Wagon coding school in Portugal. I was luckily able to land a job at a tech startup in California a few months after the program. I’m also an avid photographer and continue to practice today.

Why I Joined Steemit

I first learned about Steemit while attending Developer Week 2018 in Oakland for work about a month ago and I’m excited to become a part of this emerging community! I’m mostly interested in joining Steemit to share my photography with a new audience, share stories of travel and connect with fellow Steemit users. I look forward to engaging in this new platform with all of you.

Here’s one of my favorite photos that I’ve taken (from a street fair in Peru):
