How can one be truly happy?
The biggest lie we keep telling ourselves is that consistent belief that ‘I’m not happy yet, all I’d need is a new car; having the value of my portfolio increase by 10 thousand million; or getting ripped for the summer… In other words, once I’ll have this I’ll be so much happier.’ or the opposite ‘If only I didn’t have this is my life, I’d be happy. So much joy; so much peace…’.
Don’t get me wrong, your overall satisfaction of your life can be increased by reaching certain goals but they won’t make you happier.
What does make us happy then? You might have heard of the mountain of happiness of Tal Ben-Shahaar, showing that happiness is obtained not by reaching a goal but by pursuing them.
Let me ask you, when are the times you sleep well at night, feeling satisfied? For some people what matters might be how comfortable the bed is, feeling relaxed and stuff. Though does it always assure you a good night sleep? Does it make you immune to sleepless nights filled with anxiety?
What about the following concept: It doesn’t matter how much pain you have, or how hard the matrass is, how hungry you might seem. What’s more satisfying than closing your eyes, knowing that today you did the right thing in order to get closer to your dreams? You did everything within your power to get 1 step closer to accomplishing that incredible goal, even when the latter is still miles away.
Which brings me to the thought of this whole post. Happiness doesn’t depend on how far you are from your goals. All that’s needed in order to be happy is to be in the present, knowing that you deliberately get closer towards what you want, whatever it may be, or wherever you’re at.

Jup, better 10 little steps than one big step. Enjoy the road allong. It's the minor details that in the end will symbolise for achievements in every aspect of life.
