I wanted to see what steemit was all about and i leaped. I decided to challenge myself to 1 post a day. Which i have done for the last 2 weeks.
It has been interesting discovering who and what i wanted my voice to represent. At first i had this idea of it being a place to post my sketch comedy. Using D-tube to get it up. But i kinda realized that my content can just get lost in the sea of minnows. I now am posting shorter posts about my life with kids and running a hostel on the shores of lake Atitlan, Guatemala. My world is kinda wild wild west...so much we take for granted in our day to day realities in "1st world nations" , are here just luxuries and realities that get thrown out the window.
I still want to release my videos and comedy sketches...so i decided to keep making that content but wait to release it... to allow time for my reputation to raise and to gain more followers. Now i feel my point is to eek out a real persons profile...and to find all the other real people on steemit. I was getting frustrated with all the bots...but have now started finding others that are in here for what i consider the right reasons....a place to make and share quality content that as a by product can make real money. Not money first. i am gonna just keep posting little glimpses into my life here in Guatemala. I hope you enjoy my take and view on this existence on planet earth.
i have a few questions about steemit... that i have sought answers for without luck so far.
can anyone explain how the length of a posted story effect its value? I have read that longer posts are worth more...but what is the breakdown of how this works?
I have found steemfollower app...which seems to help getting myself out there and has boosted my reputation...though it is loaded with bots and money grubbers...it is easy to spot real folks. my referral link is here if you are interested in checking it. https://steemfollower.com/?r=4031
my question is...are there other useful apps for boosting reputation that you real folks like?
Keep On STEEMing On!

Welcome to Steemit. To answer your question the length of the post doesn't mean you will earn more if the quality of the content is not strong. No matter what the length of the post just write something worthwhile. Quality tops quantity. Write something good people will notice it no matter even if it got just few sentences.
cool...yeah i get the quality thing...i just read something that i thought was saying that longer posts some how had more value. Thanks for taking the time to answer @firepower
Long form posts generally work well in some online websites such as medium.com. In time I think people here will appreciate more long form content. If the context is gripping and captures the imagination and attention of the reader you'll do just fine. :)
I am discovering my voice here on steemit..i think my day to day life here in Guatemala is full of out of the ordinary things that if and when folks find me...they will find interesting...i guess we will see....honestly im just enjoying the act of the process.
One other thing....i see you are some how involved with @steemcleaners ... i have written several times on comments to them....my best friend got flagged for a copy and paste thing. It was truly an oversight and lack of awareness of the way steemit work. He is a sick musician and really interesting guy....he was penalized 8 reputation points for this. I am pleading his case and saying it seems a harsh punishment for a new steemer that has the potential of being an asset here. He has apologized and tried to explain the innocence of his mistake. I get it...there are so many scammers plagiarizing.....but he really is not a scammer...i grew up with him. It just seems a shame...because we were both excited about steemit...and now he has lost his momentum being under 20 rep. Is there nothing to do to recoup him so he could atleast be back to 25....he for sure will never copy and past another thing. His name is @almondbutter this is the flagged post. https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@almondbutter/introduction-to-qtum
he was just trying to share info he found interesting. I hope there is a way to help @almondbutter
Hi @buttcoins sadly I'm new here too and I can't answer your questions. I do hope that your channel grows. I'm trying to get mine off the ground but it seems hard to promote work without investing real money into steampower.
i invested a bit more than 100$ in SP. Figured what the heck. i followed you...thanks for being real!
Thanks for sharing
thanks @kbstudios...i upvoted your post yesterday. And am currently listening to your music...so much distance between our bodies. thanks for being real!

Cheers, @rebele93
thanks @rebele93 i checked your profile and followed...i have found that looking at comments that people make is a good way to make sure people are real....i see through your comments that you are a big supporter of new steemers. thank you for that...it is so important real people are being supporters...not just these bots automatically upvoting and generic commenting. the first few weeks i was seriously doubting steemit because all you would get is these bots and scammers trying to get you to upvote and follow. now im learning my way and figuring how to spot the real folks.
Haha! gotta connect with the real ones!
Saluton. I know this lake and I still remember swimming with some loughing local kids in it. I look forward reading more from you.
Concerning the lenght of a post. Nobody counts words here, however dropping only some words might not get much attention. Steemit is all about money in the first place, unfortunately. But it give us a space for our creativity too. Take care.
Hey @johano...thanks for answering my question...not sure where my confusion about post lengths came from...i think i read something and interpreted it wrong..but there are a lot of strange rules here in steemit. the first comment i read from you rubbed me wrong (100 hippies on a boat and bubbles)
...but ive gone through your comments and posts and can see you are a decent guy.
