RE: Out of the Shadows and Into the Light

I'm sure you know it's Suicide Prevention Week, and I just want to offer this: You are irreplaceable. I believe you (the universal "You," meaning all of us) are living here on this planet with a purpose, holding a special place of belonging here. At one point in my life, I was a first-responder (next-door neighbor) to a young boy who took his life, and his mother's cry is still a sound I remember. I trust you can see that life is a gift, designed to be shared with loved ones, and I wish for you to feel surrounded with love. I can relate with the issues of "ego" you're describing here. And lately, as a dad to three young kids, I'm understanding that I and all my troubles are small in the presence of this great big, beautiful, brilliant thing that is the process of growing together. With family. With the extended family. With the "Greater Family" that is all of us. My world is better with you in it, brother, and I am confident of this. I honor you and your journey, and accept you exactly as you are.

Hi @cabelindsay,

Your heartfelt response is moving, the situation with the young boy must have been and is painful. I have considered how my actions would affect others around me also.
Yeah, the ego can often delude one's thoughts with delusional thinking, making us stray from who we really want to be.

I'm not feeling like how you describe in that life is a gift, however have not always felt this way, and maybe can return back to this. I also agree that my problems are infinitesimal compared to a wider view with everyone else, but our own experiences with these problems are much more powerful from a subjective experience; hence why my posts are what they are.

Thank-you, for taking the time to post in a genuine manner, I'll try to take heed of your advice :)

Oh yeah, my pleasure. I believe it's my brotherly duty to safeguard you in any way I can. I want you to know I admire your tenderness in this post, and I'm spotlighting you in a curated list: The Top #11 List, hoping it will bring some more love and lightness your way. It's a solid intro, really. You're off to a great start on Steemit. Keep up the good work.
