My introduction post

in #introduceyourself2 years ago (edited)

Who am I?

Hello all,
I'm a hobby photographer from the North of the Netherlands. Beside of that I'm also interested in tech. But also old tech, I'm kindoff fascinated by what people pulled of with (simple) mechanical solutions. I can also do a bit of programming/scripting. And since I'm now almost a week on this platform, maybe it is time to introduce myself..

What to expect from me over here?

Mainly, pictures. Maybe this will change later. But for now, expect mainly me posting photos I made or other photo related things.
It feels a bit useless to take pictures and not share them. So sharing them gives an extra impulse to wanting to take more pictures and improve my photography, especially if people like them. So I hope that you will enjoy them. Have a look at some pictures I already posted if you want. And of course, follow me if you don´t want to miss future photos that I will post.

My photography journey

I have always enjoyed taking pictures. My first experience was when I was younger and sometimes got to use the camera of my father. Later when my parents bought a new camera I could use their old one. But after a while, when I didn´t know anything really to photograph, I wasn´t and still am not really a street photographer, my camera was collecting dust. During the lockdowns I decided to buy a new camera (Canon EOS M50), and go out to take photographs to handle the sitting at home because social life was not really existing.
This is also when I discovered that there is a lot more nature and beauty closeby than you image, but you have to look for it. I found nice places to go to. And that is something I guess also want to give to people: Explore your close surroundings, you don´t have to travel far to find nice places. Of course this may not apply everywhere. But for me, I lived 5 years in the city I live in now. And never went outside of it. But when I went biking, yes still Dutch, for a few minutes outside the city, I would already start to see nice places.

In the meantime I also acquired an old practica 35mm camera. This was to force myself to take some more time and thought into each picture I took with those. Also after trying it out, can also enjoy the creating the picture, and having to wait till you develop it before you see the result. This makes the reveal of the pictures a bit of a fun surprise.

So that brings me where I am now. And for now, I just mainly want to improve and try out different photography things. Test and try different styles.
I guess that will sum it up for now. I hope you this have got you interested and you will enjoy my pictures

Greetings,
Casting-Metal

Hey @casting-metal, welcome aboard! Your photography passion sounds awesome, and I can't wait to check out your captivating snaps. Have a blast exploring the community!

Van harte welkom!

Hello, and welcome to Hive! I had a flick through your account and you have a good eye for photography!

There are so many great communities for photography here, and some really talented people who I'm sure would be glad to talk cameras as well as share tips, techniques and ideas.

There are tons more great communities, there really is something for everyone here. I've been on Hive for over a year and discover new places all the time.

If you need any help with anything I can direct you to some good Discord servers where you'll get answers to just about any question, and get to chat with more members of the community.

In your spare time make sure to check out other peoples content and engage with them, it's a great way to get to know others as well as get yourself out there. More than anything, have fun and go at your own pace. Good luck, and keep up the good work!

Thank you,
Yes I already found some amazing photography communities, and will probably find many more. Also I like the fact that many have contests that seems fun to enter.
Again thank for you kind words

Yeah, 100% it makes it so much more fun!

I noticed that you used all of your resource credits, so I'm going to delegate 50 HP to you so you can do some exploring and make a few more actions on chain. Last year I was in the same position and there's nothing worse than needing to wait for it to refill before you can make a comment or post something.

There are Discord servers that aim to help new Hivians with delegations and stuff like that, I think James Russell left you a comment, if you click on the banner in that comment, you'll be directed to The Terminal server, they helped me so much when I started and are really nice people.

https://discord.gg/fjZuxDYAh4 - There's an invite link if you want to use that instead. It's a good place to chill and get to know other people too.

Thank you very much, yes I get why it is needed to limit the RC. And I'm also now slowly getting some rewards so it will get better for. So those two things relieves it a bit. But indeed wanting to react or post and having to wait isn't fun. So thank you very much.
And thank you for the mention of the terminal. I indeed got there already, but always good to hear more positive mentions about that server

Thank you again for the delegation

You're welcome! Hopefully it'll help you get yourself set up and started here on Hive.

You'll be surprised by how quickly you can build up your reputation and HP here, and don't be afraid to ask questions in there, everyone is there to help and there are no stupid questions as far as everyones concerned.

Also, make sure to ask about the rules of Hive; no plagarism, and no AI content unless clearly stated. There are other rules but they'd be some of the main ones to note.

It will certainly help a lot. And yes if I see how it goes, the rewards will give a healthy increase in HP.
Thanks again, now I can react and vote a bit less thought about my RC if I should do it or save some RC

Thank you, yes already had a little look around, and wanted to post photos, delaying my intro post a bit. But yes already found some nice looking photography communities and there are probably still a lot more that i haven't found yet and there also seem to be a lot of great people on here.

And things like luvshares and i guess i got some pizza token one time also looks like fun. But thats is still a bit less clear for me what there is around of that kind of thing. Because it looks like there is a lot of different things like pizza and hug and luvshares. But i guess that will just take some time to figure out

Dear @casting-metal, you just got hugged.
I sent 1.0 HUG on behalf of @katerinaramm.

Welcome to the Hive community @casting-metal!
We sincerely hope you find everything you are looking for and have found a new home here.

Seven suggestions to consider:

  1. Guard your passwords carefully, and only publish with the posting key,
  2. Use your active key only for wallet transactions, Keychain, Peaklock, and Hivesigner,
  3. The master password and the owner key are only used to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your password or keys; copy and store offline,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written, without credit, and be sure to source all of your work, even if it is your own.
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once , and
  7. DO NOT OPEN any links in memos or comments that you do not know who they belong to. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, so the old saying goes. There is nothing free here.

I found you because @brittandjosie and @jamerussell from @heyhaveyamet presented and promoted your publication to get more exposure and help you grow faster.

If you find yourself overwhelmed and need some guidance, or if you have any questions, there are informed Hiveans available who can help you; you can click to go to The Terminal in Discord here:

Have fun and happy Hiving!
