It is customary for the one who arrives new to a place to introduce himself to those who were there before he/she arrived. So, fulfilling this duty of civility, I am going to introduce myself.
At my birth, I was named after the Archangel who is the captain of the angelic hosts. Ever since I have taken that name, and I think of it as the most appropriate to my nature and personality. I was born in Spain and I act as Spaniard without shame or complexes. I do not see myself better or worse for being a Spaniard. I look at my fellow human beings in the eyes and try to be fair to everyone.
I am a deep believer and a voracious reader of good literature and philosophy, I am especially interested in the Middle Ages (a most luminous and most excellent time in spite of what its detractors have said about it.), to which I have devoted a large part of my academic efforts.
I neither hide nor let myself be seen, although I am where I should be. Temporarily distant from the southern lands where I was born, I try not to languish in the northern lands of Albion. These are my circumstances, and so I write them down to you. Surely, our steps will cross more than once on this road, remember me and, when you see me and leave me a greeting. I will do the same.
