My name is Christine Grecco. Born and raised right here in eastern Kansas. Working a 9 to 5 staring at two large PC screens 10 inches from my face. So I will do my best to get this typed up before my eyes cross and my forehead is imprinted by my keyboard again…
I have been researching Steemit for several weeks now. Watching numerous YouTube videos and trying to decide if this was for me. I have always been an avid reader. My dream was to be a famous writer someday. I wrote poetry, short stories and funny articles and even got up the nerve to submit some of them to a couple magazines. But they got rejected, as most newbies do. Then life happened and I found myself working in the medical administration field, with a husband and two kiddos.
But the Steemit site might just be the platform I need to get that fire started again. I’m excited about writing and reading the content offered!
And, if I’m being completely honest, I will confess that the thing that really pushed me to make this jump is a new co-worker of mine. I’ve been training her for several days and getting to know her. She is a single mom struggling to make ends meet and she doesn’t have a car. She actually travels more than 30 miles to work every day via Uber. She has to pay $85 every day to get to and from work… that’s just crazy! She only makes a little more than that per day. So I decided that I wanted to help her out. I just recently quit my part time job about a month ago after working nearly 10 years at two jobs. But I sure miss the money…lol So whatever I am blessed with thru this journey will also help my friend and coworker.
It's been a long time since I was this excited about anything in a long time. Thank you!

    Hello cgrecco! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

    1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
    2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
    3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
    4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.
