It's highly nerve wrecking when you have to write a post about yourself. Especially if you're an introvert and you know that this is the sort of thing that people judge you by - first impressions. There have been many times I've been misjudged due to my awkward nature in large crowds, but you only get past it if you can push through and let yourself shine. So here goes my first post for the whole Steem community to judge me by. Go easy on me!
I'm Alexandra, also known as Chefspiration (inspired by chefs and aspiring to be one) in the online world. I'm mixed French, Indian and Chinese and I run a healthy lunch delivery service in Malaysia known as Food Matters (soon to be rebranded as Nourish Me) and a gourmet catering company known as Chefspiration. On a daily basis I balance my crazy obsessive love for food with my need to be healthy. This often results in food that is packed with flavour while still fueling the body instead of draining it. Aside from providing food to people, I make it my mission to educate the public as much as possible about healthy eating and how they can incorporate it into their current diet. I do this by giving nutrition talks and doing cooking demos where I show them that healthy food does not need to be boring. Far from it. I eat almost everything I desire, but I know how to keep it all balanced so that it doesn't drain me of my energy. Being that Malaysia is now ranked highly in Asia for their obesity rates, I have my work cut out for me. But education is key, and the more lives you touch the more change you'll see.
I was born a natural curly head to a straight haired mom. This meant that she had no knowledge on how to deal with my hair and so I spent the better part of my youth hating my curls and trying to brush them straight or tie them back to hide them. Growing up in Asia meant that my peers usually had stick straight hair and so I was teased endlessly. In addition to being a natural introvert, I found that my curls gave me self esteem issues. It is only now at age 35 that I'm finally embracing my curls and this is mostly due to the fact that I have a 15month old who is also a curly girl and I want her to grow up loving who she is instead of feeling like she's different and not accepted by society.
So that brings me to the last thing. Being a mom drives me more than anything ever has. I see this little version of me, untainted with all the potential in the world and it's my job to help her grow and blossom into who she's meant to be instead of weighing her down with my issues and insecurities. So I guess my writing here on Steemit will be my outlet to express myself, share my ideas on food and nutrition and just have a place where my writing can maybe make a difference for others or just be my way to release.
I hope I've done this right. I'm still learning. And any advice would be welcome.
