“Do you realize that profession is for men?”, this was the question thrown at me always, when I tell any man who cares to listen that I was going to study Quantity Surveying in the university to become a Quantity Surveyor. The chauvinistic response never deterred me but instead it made me more determined in achieving my goal.
I am no female chauvinist, I believe a woman with some degree of assistance from her man should be a good home keeper…...I am that woman. I studied Quantity Surveying in a well renowned Polytechnic for 2 years, worked in one of the best banks in the country and started schooling afresh in a popular and one of the best universities to obtain a BSc degree in Quantity Surveying.
In my finals and heavily pregnant with most parts of my body swollen, I knew I needed rest but I could not rest. I kept attending classes with fatigue displaying itself all over my face and body, so I don’t get to have so much work awaiting my arrival after delivery. Time never stood still and before I knew it my pregnancy was past the due date, yet I attended my classes knowing that my baby could decide to pop into the world any moment. Nothing prepared me for the meeting with the Head of my Department on a Friday where I sat for over 6 hours and as soon as the meeting ended I began to feel weird, but I shrugged it off. That weird feeling started having a change in pattern throughout that day and the next.
“Head to the hospital immediately” my anxious mother said to me on Saturday night over the phone. Rolling my eyes, I told my husband I was heading to the hospital to get checked, that he shouldn’t bother tagging along because I would soon return. Labour started as soon as I got to the hospital.
My husband didn’t meet the calm woman who sashayed out of the house when he got to the hospital as she was screaming in pains that could neither be explained nor shared. I was in labour for over 12 hours and gave birth to a perfect healthy baby girl with twelve fingers in total. In the end the pain was all worth it and I returned to school after 2 weeks feeling greatly blessed and highly favoured. I not only studied what I wanted, I pushed a baby out while studying. It can only be God.
I can't wait to introduce my daughter to nature, so they can spoil her with beauty and colours. She has so much interesting things to learn from nature, that she cannot help but love. Nature speaks love, kindness, honesty, transparency, perseverance, beauty, colours and so much more. I admire and respect nature, hopefully my daughter gets to learn that from me because I see life from a queer angle.
I will be sharing stuffs with steem it community based on my passion for style, food, nature and healthy lifestyles. I wish I could say more but my daughter is requesting for some of my milk and attention right now.

Hello there! Welcome to steemit. Yes most people do stereotype when women take place the jobs of what men can do. Just drop those remarks and just continue to do what you know is good. Keep it up! Keep shining.
You may want to check @surpassinggoogle and be inspired big-time! :)
Thanks a lot. I'll definitely check it out.
