By: Carolina Pérez
My name is Carolina Pérez, I am 28 years old, I studied Journalism at the University of Santiago de Chile. I’m currently working for a company named Davinci Codes, a software development company located in Chile, whose objective is to develop software that can manage cryptocurrencies.

It´s been about seven months since I first began writing about crypto and it’s been very interesting to learn and realize that the creation of Bitcoin was only the starting point for cryptocurrency and decentralized networks.
We recently decided to begin posting my blog in Steemit. I didn’t know about Steemit until a coworker mentioned it to me and pointed out that this is a platform were content creators of different areas can upload their work and get paid in crypto if people like it. I believe this is a great platform for bloggers and it brings us closer to the crypto community.
I will be uploading my content, it’s been great to see how much I’ve learned just looking back at older blogs. These were my initial thoughts from my first blog post on our website:
At the beginning, the name Bitcoin didn’t ring a bell when I was first introduced to it, but I thought more about it and I realized that it wasn’t the first time I had heard the term Bitcoin. Actually, the first time was a few years ago when I was doing some research on the Dark Web. During this time, I came across an article about an anonymous market site called Silk Road. This site was an underground drug marketplace that could be accessed through the Dark Web and people were able to purchase all sorts of drugs and pay for them with Bitcoins. At the time I didn’t give it much thought other than thinking “ok there’s an underground currency”, but I had no idea how it worked. However, to my surprise a few years later this type of currency appears in my life and not as a Dark web currency but as a legitimate type of virtual money.
I’m pretty sure you have heard the expression “Not everything in the internet is real”, well this type of money is the real deal, nowadays there are millions of people investing in them, buying flights, booking hotels at Expedia, gift cards and also trading these Bitcoins in different parts of the world.
A week ago, I downloaded a free app called Jaxx a bitcoin wallet and got my first set of coins, so I’m excited to see how it actually works and maybe buy something for the first time using my bitcoins.

So how do I feel about Bitcoins?
I’ve heard so much that it blows my mind, it seems that you must be an expert or good with numbers to be able to use this currency. Our world is constantly being simplified for us and it has allowed many to be accustomed to it. Now here comes Bitcoin with a very appealing but yet complicated world or at least that’s what it seems to me. I’m also a person that likes security, I like to know what I’m getting myself into especially when it comes to money. There is so much to learn about how this encrypted currency works because it definitely doesn’t make me feel secure to invest money before understanding it. I’m sure its intriguing for many and there is always a new era for everything, but have we come across the new era for money?
There is so much more within the cryptocurrency world, therefore I will be discovering it one step at a time. I feel that crypto has a future but I think there is a long way to go to win over everybody in believing in it.
Hope you enjoyed it I’m Looking forward to reading your comments.
