Greetings, soon-to-be Steemit friends. My name is Dawn. I'm 51 and married.
I was raised in Northeast Ohio, have lived a gypsy lifestyle traveling around the country with my family who were heavily involved in drag racing. (Photo below circa 1977)
I have lived in Las Vegas, Boston, MA, and Manchester, NH. I recently relocated back to Ohio with my husband of nearly 17 years. Our lifelong passion for drag racing and photography brought us together at a drag strip in Bakersfield, California, in March of 2000, and we married in November that same year. I relocated from Las Vegas to a suburb of Boston to live with he and his widowed mother. In late 2001, we all moved to her childhood hometown of Manchester, NH, so that she could spend her remaining years nearer her family. Her health began to decline, and she passed away at the age of 90 in August of 2014. It was after her passing that the wheels were put into motion to move on and essentially begin our life together, again. My husband and I agreed that Ohio would be our destination to be nearer my own family. We found our forever home last spring, but we're still in the process of unpacking (after two moves) and making sense of our lives. Mentally decompressing from the stress of the last half-dozen years or so if you will. (Photo below of my husband and me in January of 2016)
Beyond our interest in drag racing, we both enjoy classic rock music, assorted documentaries, gardening and nature. We both love to cook, and made a necessary lifestyle change to be gluten free approximately five years ago. I enjoy adapting regular recipes to accommodate these changes, because life is too short to eat shitty food....gluten free foods don't have to suck. I plan on vlogging about these recipes soon. It's irritating to hear people mock the idea of being gluten free, and claim they could never do it because they could never give up this or that. Neither of us were sick or diagnosed with Celiac Disease, but everything that was going on with our health pointed to a gluten intolerance in some way, shape or form. My husband educated himself extensively during his mother's lengthy illness about health and wellness, and the importance of restoring gut health to repair overall health. Our eventual goal is to start beekeeping and garden organically... basically save enough to purchase the required pollinating plants, bee colonies, and hive structures to do so. If you are a Netflix subscriber, be sure to watch the 2-part documentary Hive Alive. Beyond this....we dig reruns of Seinfeld and The X Files.
I discovered this new (to me) frontier by accident last night via a Youtube video by @craig-grant.
So, my thoughts on all of this here as I explore it....If it's a good idea and gets you excited, try it. If it bursts into flames, that will be exciting too. If you have read this far, thank you for doing so. I look forward to sharing and interacting with like-minded individuals. Until next time, Dawn.

[If it's a good idea and gets you excited, try it. If it bursts into flames, that will be exciting too.]
I just had to laugh, hope you don't mind if I borrow that great line.
Thanks for the chuckle,
Steady as she goes.

P.s. Seinfeld is the best written sit com of all time i do believe.
I love to be around people with a great sense of humor. I don't think there is a day that goes by that my husband and I don't rattle of some line from Seinfeld. Thank you for the kind words, and borrow the line anytime. :-)
