How We Dream Here.

Hey, I'm Edeh Chika, a 21st century African Millennial born, I believe, to express the burning yearnings of my ancestors. I believe I'm an intelligent summary of all my ancestors; I was carved out of their energies to express their dreams, humor and even their quirkiness; with that burning desire not withstanding, I also have a dream of my own. I Am a 21st century African Millenial, as I've said, and that holds a very interesting meaning in the world I live in. It means I'm part of the first set of generations to possibly largely adapt and cultivative a progressive, active, idealistic culture. When I consider the responsibilities and intricacies attached to being part of the first generation of my lineage, like many others across Africa, who have been given the grandest gesture to pave this path for this time, I'm flushed, humbled and deeply perplexed (considering the numerous unconscious barriers placed by the generation who've come before). The idea of creating a life of your innermost desire I won't lie is still quite foreign to some of my peers and the expectations of our society does not fit some necessary relevance on a global scale. Our major issue I believe is the acceptability of justifiable ignorance and ignorance swims freely, utterly unchecked, even in the minds of our most celebrated academics — the educational sector is another issue; an issue for another day( I'll write about it). The main source of ignorance we still struggle to shed and even unconscious of still, stems from religion and traditional customs and beliefs. This country, my darlings, I've really taught me the power of the mind. There's so much not said here, even more not done and I believe the children born to fit this time are the ones to have the first taste on how to build it up by carving widely uncharacteristic unstereotypical lives — what a privilege, truly. This I would sincerely want to intricately explore on this blog. This and many other influences that has led me into this space of realization from depictions drawn from a global landscape.
I'll be talking on the Western world and its over emphasized power, its unbelievable influences and the margins of its righteous bigotry as it relates to my ever interesting Nigeria and Africa at large. I want to aim to speak for progressive members of my generation; to broaden the possibility that we can dream too and have interesting conversations about global issues that shifts our mindset in the most seemingly unexpected ways. So, please follow out of pure interest, I'll like to receive your comments whenever I make a post, it is truly fun here.
