I live on some acreage just outside a small town in North Idaho called Rathdrum. I have lived in this area for around 36 years. I have yet to figure out how the name came about, yet it is unique for sure.
The name is an anglicization of the Irish words rath droim. It means Hillfort. I can guarantee you an Irish emigrant must have named it after the town Rathdrum in Co. Wicklow.
