My Introduction

in #introduceyourself5 years ago

Wow! The process of writing this intro post has really increased my respect for all of the content creators here. I arrived around 2 years ago and have commented here and there but have mostly been a consumer of content. More recently, I've been inspired by the diversity and quality of the content and want to add a bit of myself into the mix. Now, onto my introduction...

I Am.

That's it? You might be asking. Well, adding to that statement begins the process of attempting to define the infinite possibility that is consciousness; an impossible task. But, it sure is a lot of fun to try, so let's start with some recent photos of me that capture the broad strokes of my outside:
COLLAGE.jpg

Looking inside, I'd like to share my current list of life guidelines (Pirates of the Caribbean style):

  • Live with my heart open
  • Be here now
  • Don't mind what happens
  • Wear shoes as little as possible
  • Choose Love instead of fear
  • Direct experience is the only way
  • No attack is ever justified
  • Every day is a blessing

I've assembled this list over the years, with inspiration from the work of others and through my own observations and intuition.

I don't find much value in focusing on the past, and regarding the future... I've spent too much time there already, holding myself in limbo and bypassing the only time that actually exists... Now. Once I took the blinders off and started seeing and participating in the ever unfolding process of life, interesting possibilities started to show up again.

This brings me full circle back to Steem because this is a place of opportunity... to meet like minded people, to be exposed to new ideas, to help and be helped by others, to express creativity, and to reunite with members of my soul tribe.

Love and blessings to you all!

Sorry to see you received a ridiculous downvote - it was certainly an introduction post that deserved a positive return, for you. Especially if it as two years in the making!!

It's kind of funny, actually. I am here for the engagement and that downvote increased my visibility 10x. Some might say that it was meant to be.

Living with an open heart is the best thing to do. It is vulnerable. It is dangerous. But it is also breath taking.

Yes! You are speaking my language. My life really changed once I experienced a real heart opening and then committed to do the inner work necessary to remain in that flow.

Great introductionbof yours @dmwh
Looking forward to see good stuffs from you.. cheers

Thanks for the good wishes. Much appreciated!

You're welcome ^^

Great to hear from you! It will get easier to post once you do it more. I like to think of it as a mindfulness exercise. I usually want to be able to do things quick and when I post on Steemit it requires more time and it's been a good lesson in patience. It's so wonderful to meet you, will be looking for your posts 💜

Thank you.

For me, posting on Steem may end up being an exercise to help me overcome the pitfalls of perfectionism. I have found that if I can't do something 100%, I won't do it at all. That sounds great, on paper, but in practice I end up missing a lot of boats. I believe that being here may just help me go with the flow a bit more and engage without worrying too much. I'm not sure, but I believe that it was @andrarchy who said something along the lines of: "Don't be afraid to post bad content".

A wonderful introduction! Even if you have been around a few years already.

Thank you for the pictures. Seeing the visual shell is important for me. Faces speak without speaking.

Love your list. Particularly the no shoes rule! The less you wear them, the less you need to wear them. After five years barefoot, mine may not be pretty but they are tough and permit me to walk even on very hot sand.

Thanks for explaining the @haejin mystery. I will give you a resteem and let's see if someone can match his downvote with a more powerful upvote! Seems a bit harsh that you should receive nothing for this. But as you say.... you did break one of your own rules ;)

A late welcome my friend. I admire your ideas for living your life simply it seems. Too bad others don't seem to appreciate your goals.

Thanks. I see that you are RVing full time so I'm guessing that you are on a minimalist path as well. My vision is to be part of a community or interconnected communities around the world with the flexibility to move around. I've done a fair amount of camping and road trips but, with a tent, it's not really that practical. I've considered getting a trailer to make longer trips more feasible and just more pleasant all around.

I look forward to seeing where your adventures take you.

Wow, a consumer of content! We need more of you here :)

I have a feeling that we'll be seeing more and more unhappy big tech users making their way to Steem. It's going to be cool to watch what happens when someone with a big online following commits and starts exclusively offering their content here or on an associated platform such as 3Speak. There may be some hiccups but things could get real busy, real fast.

BTW, I enjoyed your last Caturday post from the Canary Islands. That ought to be bringing in millions of cat video fans from far and wide!

Hahah. Thanks. Those cats were something :)
Yes indeed, this place could erupt suddenly.

Welcome! What an amazing introduction! I am new and have made my way into the @naturalmedicine community where the vibes are beautiful. Beautiful Thinking.jpg

Nice to meet you. I like the name that you've chosen very much @agiftoflove. It really gets to the root of things. What else is there, right?

I haven't explored the Tribes much yet but it seems like PALnet and Natural Medicine would be good fits for me. I'm sure that I will see you again on our journey.

Wow I wonder who u pissed off w your positive vibes??? You got flagged and I have no idea why... steemit What has happened to you- I personally love your post myself- glad u took the time to introduce yourself!!!

Thanks. Who knows, hahaha.

I'm not sure how much posting I'll do but I felt that it was definitely time to complete my introduction. I've been making more connections on Steem and generally find the people here to be much more 'awake'. There really is some amazing talent spending time here.

yes that is true. It was a lot more true in the past - we used to all talk to each other a lot more than I see happening now - in fact for 2 years I had a group of "friends" who helped me so much as I branched out into a new art form I was experimenting with - they all seem to have dropped off though and I am one of the few left. I never hear from them, or see them anymore... oh well. I guess that's social media - but you are right - people ARE a lot more awake here than anywhere else I know. I have one or 2 awake people in my f2f life... but that's it. I dumped my facebook account because although I did have a whole group of awake people on there - it got so negative that I could not take it anymore and had to for my own wellbeing get the heck away from them... but you are right - the quality of steemit is high...

In my opinion, there are many layers of awakening. There seem to be a lot of people who are now waking up to the realities of the system and how corrupt and manipulated everything is. As you discovered in your FB group, people are "awake" but they are also really mad and negative.

For me, the key has been to look inside and continue my awakening process until I reached a point of neutrality. I see the system as a game that is designed to keep us focused on separation. Wherever we focus our attention, we will find ourselves. With that in mind, I have been letting go of the inverted 3D (fear, competition, survival, etc) world and have been choosing to focus in 5D (love, collaboration, co-creation, etc).

what happened to the 4th Dimension? That's where I like to hang out...

Apparently it's a bridge between the other 2. They are just labels anyway; it's the intent that counts.

Hey there.

So tell us more about you in the future.
Happy in the present to you!
For you @haccolong

@hoaithu . He is right, he has been here for too long and has just posted his first post, while commenting a lot.
Thanks @dmwh, Nice to meet you. I also just followed you & after reading your introduction I think you are also a follower existentialism.

Hi. Thanks for commenting.

existentialism

n.
A philosophy that emphasizes the uniqueness and isolation of the individual experience in a hostile or indifferent universe, regards human existence as unexplainable, and stresses freedom of choice and responsibility for the consequences of one's acts.
n.
a philosophical theory or attitude having various interpretations, generally emphasising the existence of the individual as a unique agent with free will and responsibility for his or her own acts, though living in a universe devoid of any certain knowledge of right and wrong; from one's plight as a free agent with uncertain guidelines may arise feelings of anguish. Existentialism is concerned more with concrete existence rather than abstract theories of essences; is contrasted with rationalism and empiricism; and is associated with Kierkegaard, Heidegger and Sartre, as well as others.

I like to avoid labels as much as possible. All of the ISMs sound great in theory but as soon as we start defining ourselves we end up leaving something out. However, there are several things in this definition that I agree with. Primarily, in this world, everything is relative and therefore good/bad is up to the individual. Also, I take 100% responsibility for where I find myself in life. It's not possible to be a co-creator and victim at the same time.

So, for example, I used to follow @haejin's work a couple years ago when I joined Steem, since I also have done quite a bit of trading and technical analysis and have seen people really master the market using TA. At that time, he seemed to really be interested in helping people learn to trade. After HF21, I downvoted a few of his posts so in turn it looks like he's decided to send me some downvote love. And, as the creator of my experience I am 100% responsible for that. In retrospect, I have to say that my downvoting crossed the line of my guideline that "No attack is ever justified" so I can Thank him for reminding me of that!

Each existential philosopher has different interpretations in their own way. And I selected some of their views to guide myself, not all. I especially liked Nietzsche's "surhomme" and Sartre's "nausea".
But I was more influenced by Lao Tzu than existentialism, Fortunately, I see many similarities between existentialism and Lao Tzu's way.

Each of our actions is our own path of choice. So, you are great when you are responsible for your actions. And with dictatorial viewpoint and collective ownership, it is rare to have such people. :( In my country, almost no one has resigned due to their mistakes. LOL ... :)

Thank you for your insights, my friend. I have a pocket copy of the Tao Te Ching which I used to randomly open and see what message it had for me. I going to start doing that again.

Hopefully you will enjoy when studying that copy, it's hard to feel but when you feel it, it will appeal to you forever. :)

Thanks for being a consumer of content, (especially if it's what I post, hehehe)! Would I still be blogging otherwise? I probably would, but knowing there are readers like you, who sometimes show themselves by commenting, it adds a whole new level of excitement to it. Thank you for taking the time and sharing the interest.

Indeed. You are a good writer. I've not posted much but I find that Hive has a much larger concentration of interesting/awake people who are producing quality content. Thanks for being one of the producers!

"Direct experience is the only way." Absolutely! In the spirituality especially, you see people saying these things like they're the word of God, but unless you experience it for yourself, how do you know if it's true for you? Also a good reminder for myself as I do have a tendency to overanalyze and get lost in my head.
