Hello!
This is my introductory post. Basically, my intention with this post is to tell everyone a little about who I am and what I plan to write about.
My name is Doug.
I'm a Software Engineer currently working full-time on large scale ERP software for the public sector. On nights and weekends, I spend most of my time studying Cryptoassets and Blockchain Technology. I also play some poker and spent over a year playing full-time, but recently most of my poker time is turning into crypto/blockchain/software development time.
Current Projects
I tend to stay very busy, and currently in addition to my day job I'm working on the following:
- An online store and crowdfunding campaign for Pla Motion Controller
- Extending a previously written GDAX Dollar Cost Averaging bot with more features
- Learning MeteorJS in order to rapidly develop some web apps in the Crypto space
Currently Reading
I read articles, tweets, etc. about crypto and blockchain every day, but my two main squeezes right now are:
- Cryptoassets - Chris Burniske
- Mastering Bitcoin: Programming the Open Blockchain - Andreas M. Antonopoulos
What I plan to Write
Most likely, the majority of my blogs will be on topics in the crypto/blockchain space. I will probably occasionally write about poker, travel, general software engineering topics, cryptography, and whatever else grabs my interest.

Welcome, i would love to read your on your experience with blockchain related apps. What are your recommendations to someone who do not understand any programming language, but want to start coding next year? I can't wait to see you getting started on steemit. If you ever need any guide on how to successfully navigate steemit, i am @professorials on telegram.
@autofreak loves you, and I want to see you prosper here.

Hey @autofreak, Thanks for the kind words! I think the most important thing for you to do is to clearly define your goals if you want to learn something. Do you know what type of programming you want to learn? Do you want to do web development, work on blockchain, or something else? If you don't know that's fine too, but if you have a clear goal in mind it will help to structure your learning. I would recommend starting with computer science fundamentals- learn what the different data structures are and the use cases for each. Also learn flow control and boolean logic, problem solving techniques, and some basic algorithms. These things are all language agnostic. Once you have a foundation, you can choose what language(s) you want to learn. I'm a little biased but I don't think you can go wrong learning JavaScript :)
