“Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” – Proverbs 27:17
We are decades into the Information Age. And yet, much of what passes for information is either strongly biased or lacks a factual foundation. As a logical thinker with a background in research design, I am equipped to distinguish solid evidence and sound theories from conjecture and bias. My posts are intended to help draw distinctions between fact, falsehood, and opinion, to stimulate clear thinking, and to promote the use of logic and discernment in sifting through the mounds of information we encounter every day.
Discussing politics, religion, and even health is considered taboo by many. These people often suggest such conversations cannot be both meaningful and polite. I disagree. Many of my posts will be about these controversial topics, because much of what matters most in life – what is most worth discussing – arouses passionate thoughts.
I try to communicate precise (rather than fuzzy) positions: no kitten videos on my posts. Rather, I hope to provide food for thought - articles and ideas - to help you as you make important decisions about the topics that really matter in life. You can help inform, encourage, and/or enlighten me and the rest of the group with logical, fact-based comments. Meaningful discussion can help all of us refine our beliefs.

About Me
I am a very intense individual with one very close friend (to whom I have been married since 1978). I am a born teacher and the mother of two very unique individuals, whom we homeschooled. They have added to our family a gifted daughter-in-law, a retrogamer son-in-law, and an exuberant grand-dog. Although I have traveled to both famous and obscure destinations in 30 – 40 countries on six continents, my favorite vacations have been week-long wilderness paddling treks in the USA with my family.
I became a nurse, beginning with a BSN in pediatrics, in 1982. I am now a PhD, RN, SRN (Ghana), certified wound specialist nurse (CWCN, CWS). My experience with PolyMem dressings has led me to believe that they are by far the best wound management products on the planet, and I am frustrated that so few patients are benefitting from PolyMem. I am trying to change that by working with Ferris Mfg. Corp. as a nurse researcher, educator, and technical writer.
Independently, my husband and I develop village health worker training programs for Christians in rural areas of tropical developing countries. We are currently gathering data for the development of sustainable wound management options for lay health providers in rural areas of tropical developing countries using improvised dressings. This work is funded primarily by interested individuals. If you would like to participate, look me up – my email address is on public my LinkedIn page. https://www.linkedin.com/in/linda-l-luckstead-benskin-87b1131a/
As an undenominational Christian, I believe that God speaks to man primarily through the Bible and through His creation, and that these two testimonies do not conflict. When I was baptized into Christ, I received the gift of the Holy Spirit for guidance and strength to better serve God. Our family worked as medical missionaries with a clinic in a remote Islamic area of West Africa for five years. I am not a fan of creeds and I am skeptical of most commentaries. I find Kohlberg’s model of moral development (a blog post topic!) intriguing.
My political views lean strongly towards small-government conservatism. As such, I am not a fan of any of the current national political parties. I believe that the government should provide for the national defense, enforce contracts, protect citizens from those who would commit crimes against them or their property, maintain courts to prosecute fraud, and protect children and intellectually or psychologically disabled adults from exploitation. I believe that most of the other roles of the federal government are beyond their scope.
I accept responsibility for the content of my posts and I make an effort to ensure the accuracy of all posts. However, because I am a fallible human and you are a capable person, I assume no responsibility for the decisions you make and the actions you take as a result of what you read. My posts are not intended to be a substitute for professional medical care. NOTE: I am not a licensed physician.
I welcome comments on my posts to further the goal of promoting clarity on the topic of the post. In order to allow readers to share ideas with one another (and because I am not ready to quit my day job), I will not respond to every comment, even when I disagree. Please post comments to further the civil discussions and to share meaningful facts and ideas on the topic at hand.
Welcome to Steemit @drlindathenurse :)
Thanks. I posted some health information several months ago, but I did not take the time to design an introduction until today.
I followed you then. :)
Welcome to Steemit and following you now @drlindathenurse!
