New here, how's the site been so far?

I've been hearing about steemit nearly everywhere i go in the crypto world, and finally decided to give it a go..Im in my late 20s and work in manufacturing. I consider myself a logic based person who loves a good intellectual banter. Philosophical conversations are always entertaining, and pretty much any science based topics are my go to. I've been known to write pretty decent semi-inspirational quotes when the mood strikes like..."Be weary when offering help to those of whom lost their path, for it is then we are prone to losing our own." Well, I know this isn't much for an intro, but feel free to hit me up if you want to debate a topic, or need a good critique on an idea. I'm also always interested in new ways of growing my btc account if you have any solid methods of that aside from the usual "go here, click captcha" junk. Anywho, hope you have a great day!

Just don't invest external currency into it. Barring that, it is a pump and dump, used exactly as that is defined.

By itself, Steem is a garbage cryptocurrency. But as a medium of exchange via blog posts, it has gained value (kind of like cacao beans thousands of years ago, or anything in demand but lacking intrinsic value). The sole purpose it has value now is precisely so it can be pumped and dumped for BTC on crypto exchanges.

The major external cost is your time. When your payout doesn't adequately compensate you for your time, then it's either time to stop, or to stop expecting to profit.

Right now, the site is lacking stewardship as a legit community versus a profit machine. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with turning a profit for one's creativity. All I'm saying is that there are a few whales who talk a good game about community, and the curation of great ideas, but they are using everyone else to simply make money and once the well runs dry, they will scurry off.

Other than that, welcome.

Thanks for the honesty. I mean, of course the majority of people trying to convince others to join are in it for their own financial benefit, but i still hope to see if the community can grow into something good and not just get overwhelmed by whales
