Nothing to break the ice like a selfie
Greetings, fellow Steemians (I still find this term funny because it makes me think of simians). It’s a pleasure to join you in this voyage. My name is Diego, but you can go with my self-imposed internet nickname, Eden.
About me
I am a… regular guy? Honestly I don’t even know how to describe myself anymore, I said guy because I always went for student, but I recently graduated as a bachelor in Mass Communications (Media Studies) and I work as a radio producer and designer/illustrator, so I’m not really a student anymore.
I am from Venezuela; that one country located in the northern part of South America, next to the Caribbean. Yes, the news you have seen about my country are probably right. At the same time, we DO have Internet. And weirdly enough, from the perspective of someone from the 1st world, you could say I live a “normal life”. The reality here is very complex, very harsh, and also very ridiculous at times. Only thing I can say for certain about most of us Venezuelans is that we are fighting against communism on a daily basis.
And I don't recommend it, it's not a fun activity when you are not exactly winning. But well.
Going back to myself, I would say I am also a self-proclaimed artist. I like doing a lot of stuff like drawing, singing, and telling lame jokes. All of this lead me to get to know about most sides of the entertainment industry; I am familiar with comedy shows (because I worked in one), film, cartoons, music, and theater. Honestly, I think I like all of this because I love putting a smile on people’s faces, to see them having fun.
I am also an anime character from time to time.
Now I draw historical figures turned into busty girls.
I would say I am a person with a lot of interests; but undoubtedly, my biggest passion among those I mentioned is illustration. I don't even know how my interest in it developed, all I can say is that I was naturally drawn in (Haha, get it? Drawing pun) since I was a kid.
I honestly didn’t do much else when I was young. From Digimons to magical girls to whatever other cartoon or anime I was watching… I had to make bad fanart about it. I still keep a plethora of sketchbooks filled with bad fanart.
But well, yeah. I feel like I have improved over the years.
Why are you here anyways?
Well, I consider myself to be a child of the Internet; when I was a kid I wasn’t even able to read english properly but I was already goofing around in Neopets.com.
I’m always looking for new stuff to do online, and I stumbled upon this website thanks to my friend @steemedchitty. As you can see, I love wasting my time in online communities, so I was naturally drawn in to the concept of Steemit. I was also eager to meet new people from around the world, and I did a bit of research and it led me to believe that this would be the perfect place to make new friendships; everyone seems interesting, diverse, and truly engaged in participating in this community.
How are you gonna contribute to the community?
You can expect from me… a lot of random posts, to be honest. I don’t love writing extensive articles too much, but I do love sharing ideas, drawings, pictures, and any other little piece of myself.
So, I am probably going to share my illustrations and how I make them, pictures of trips, what it’s like to live here in Venezuela, and probably one or two stupid puns.
As I’m new here, I am open to suggestions.
