Dear you,
When eightlines was to join steemit, i had an idea of a platform where many people who feel they are creative in one field or another can interact. That sort of underground form of social media that congregates people with minds ranking among the most matured in terms of quality content in any form.
Another expectation i had was that of a hive for free interaction of ideas, suggestions, discoveries, knowledge, entertainment and so on, where great content can be easily recognized and put to use in ways they were intended for
I would not say i have been disappointed, in fact i have not been disappointed so far, at least not totally.
The kinds of content i have come across thus far have been amazing, people displaying their prowess in the their fields freely and effectively, and have even been able to interact with one another about what they have done. This places surely does house creativity.
There is a 'but' however. My second expectation has not been met at all. The system does not seem to favor newcomers who have such great content as to warrant easy recognition in a normal system of such great minds. And then it would be a definite truth if i were to then state that most people do not eventually achieve what they entered steemit for. They either get swayed over into other things or keep doing the same thing and experience slow and steady growth that might eventually kill the drive towards their original intents. People who are most likely to have like purposes have not been effectively connected.
I know however that whatever causes most newcomers to be lost inside the ambiguity of this system such that they feel eventually that their original intentions might not play out as planned is as a result of the human factors involved in steemit. I know also that most of the reasons for which steemit was created have not been effectively carried out by its users. And that a lot of logistics have gone into altering the original steemit plan.
The human factor in question is however this-
What can steemit do for me?
at the moment. This question takes off shoots from many selfish intentions. But there is another question that begs honesty.
What can steemit do for me?
This time pointing the light to the original reason why you entered steemit.Be open minded and maybe we can rediscover ourselves from hereon.
Eightlines will convert each response into a line of a poem in addition to the eight lines below. My own reasons are housed between lines six to eight.
This poem would have been authored by everyone of us who would take enough thought and time to comment their original reasons for joining steemit. This way we could have connected our minds into achieving one purpose.
pine trees of a crowd plucked by all the essences
tangerines of a few with sweet juice breeding bitter envy
how can the ends and knots of the earth be connected in shreds of pumped roots
by bringing the placentas of imagination and feeding dry wombs
and the roots splash and spike and curse and fight using smiles
curses, therefore (for i hoped for a better ending)
for the rain to sponge out belief in my poetry,
and feed this ever dehydrated field of hopes with one another's souls.
NOTE:
The lines will be updated as each reason is passed across and proper credit given to each contributor.
Lets start to ask ourselves- what can steemit really do for me?
welcome to steemit. i am sry yo feel like that. That's true in the beginning it is hard. I can give you a tip write less posts for the moment and more good comments on subjects you are interested in to create followers. Try to join communities, find them on discord and join, make friends. Later you write more posts when you have loyal followers and get better rewards. Hope to see you around buddy
Thanks a lot bruw, I'll definitely take to your advice,
But what group is discord if i may ask?
Big things start in small ways, friend. You are doing a good job right now and that's all that matters.
