Gosh! It took me forever to finally write my first post. My fingers have been flirting with the keyboard for the past weeks just trying to produce this sorta X-Ray of myself.
My name is Sofía
There is an internal process going on in my life right now. And I think it might benefit from these attempts to write down the way I interpret the world around me and my own self. You won’t get special effects from me, or a lot of pictures. I think I have a better relationship with words and paragraphs, and I hope many of you do too. I hope this path I’m starting to walk today in steemit is not only good for me but also might help someone else walk toward a better life.
This introducemyself thing might be not quite so easy. In order for you to say who you are, you need to actually know it. And that trip within yourself is also a trip to unknownland. A few days ago, I was confronted by that question, Who are you? Is it what you do? Is it what you studied? Is it your occupation, even though it’s different from your profession? Is it where you are from? What if you don’t live there anymore? Is it your hobbie? What if you lose all of that? What’s left then?
Defining yourself in just one word is even harder. I already faced it while trying to set my username. I think I had the opportunity to choose one that represents me, I believe it is a good attribute, but at the same time it makes me a bit of a complicated individual. Nevertheless, if I were to be known for something beside my name –which a lot of people has- I would like it to be my empathy.
Singer? I’ve sung alone and with others, religious and profane music, popular and academic music. A bit of an eclectic list. I just love singing. .
Mother? I have two beautiful kids, a boy and girl.
Teacher? Music teacher, mainly. I’ve taught kids, teenagers, adults, at school, at college, public, private… even in my own house. I’m also teaching English now.
Migrant? Well, yeah, that’s kinda the tough reality of us Venezuelans around the world. For a short period I lived in New Jersey more than 15 years ago. But now I live in Costa Rica, my mom’s home country.
Cook? Anything I like to eat (and not pay for at a fancy place), especially if involves baking.
Writing? I’ll be writing about the topics I just mentioned, as they are a part of my life. So if you feel any of them resonating with your own experience, you know you are invited to stick around and read me .
