Who is Dante Escobedo, The Miami Realtor?

I feel like I've lived in 3 different countries, but I haven't. I was born in Lima, Peru.  Yes, the country that is taking over as one of the culinary capitals of the world.

At 15 years of age, I moved to Saint Louis, Missouri.  It was a time when Americans were told not to travel to Peru and Colombia because of terrorism, drug trafficking, and political turmoil.  The American government was afraid you would end up dead in a foreign land.  As a matter of fact, I did witness how the American embassy moved from a location that was very accessible, to a building that resembles a fort.  The walls are extremely thick and the windows have bulletproof glass.  I know you wonder how I know.  Well, how do you think I got my visa to come?  Trust me, when I went to the embassy, it didn't look like the scene in the movie "Asu Mare".

I only experienced the early years of that nightmare. The worse years happened after my move to the U.S. from what I've seen with the power of Youtube.  Years later, once Facebook became popular, I reconnected with childhood friends who had decided to move to other countries in Asia, Europe and America.  I was the first one in my class to leave. I guess I was a pioneer in my school, lol.

So maybe I could say that I survived.  OK, no need to exaggerate.  I really don't have any friends or know anyone that died during those times.  Of course, it could've happened, but the chances were slim. I really didn't live in areas were the tragic events happened. Most terrorist attacks happened in the old part of Lima, close to government buildings, desolated areas in the outskirts of Lima, and The Andes.

Moving to Saint Louis was awesome.  It was not much of a culture shock and I adapted quickly.  I was already fluent in English, even though I had to work on my pronunciation.  I made great new friends and it was pretty cool being different than the rest of the kids.  Of course the most often request was to teach them the Spanish curse words.  Kids that knew a bit of Spanish tried to make me laugh by showing off theirs skills; una cerveza por favor.  Many didn't have a clue of where Peru was.  Here is a nice picture of Lima.

Let me summarize years of great times living in Saint Louis in a few sentences.  After high school I obtained two associate degrees, and then attended the Bachelor of Business Administration and Management at Fontbonne University.  Obviously I had many jobs, but the most memorable was being a sales manager at AT&T.  As a matter of fact, I got the idea of moving to Miami because AT&T rewarded me for my accomplishments with company paid vacation trips to Florida.

I think that at this point I might know Miami better than Saint Louis. I have lived here for eleven years and I love it.  I love all the cities that I have lived in.  Living in Peru with my family and childhood friends gave me a good foundation.  I experienced a different environment and culture in Saint Louis.  In Miami I have been able to interact with people from all over the world.  I'm glad to have been able to learn the best habits and values from different cultures.

So how come I said that I feel as if I have lived in three different countries?  If you have been to Miami or if you ever come, you will find it to be a unique and extremely diverse city.  It does feel like a unique small country.  There is no other city in the U.S. that resembles it.

Are you planning to live in Miami?  Feel free to ask me for help doing that.  Miami is an amazing city, and as a Realtor I can make that happen.
