Hi everyone! My name is Gennaro, I'm the creator of FourWeekMBA.com and I've been in the digital marketing world since 2015.
In December 2017 I joined Steemit. However, it is just in the last week that I started to post consistently. It all started when I was writing up an article for my blog, which covered Steemit. I was curious to know more about this platform. Initially, I didn't really get its value.
When I started to put down the piece I had to go through the White Paper, Blue Paper, and the SMT White Paper. The more I read the more I understood the potentiality of the Steem Blockchain. That is why I jumped in right away with no hesitation.
On my blog, I usually cover topics related to business modeling, SEO, and digital marketing. What excited me the most about Steemit is the ability to create an alternative business model compared to the traditional model created by social media, and Facebook in primis. Over the years I honestly never liked the way Facebook monetized the data of its users as this creates an asymmetry and conflict of interests between the company and its users.
I loved then the idea behind Steem Blockchain and the fact that an ecosystem could be built upon it! I find that quite powerful and that is why I believe it might be successful in the long term. Of course, the success of the platform highly depends on its ability to fill the gaps that exist in the current social media industry. And to attract content creators that provide high quality and value to the community.
Thus, my dream for this community is to grow at a level to pose a threat to tech giants, like Facebook. It is a wish that works via negativa. In short, I know what I don't want the web to look like, and Facebook for me is an example of how the web has been derailed toward its initial path.
A place that was supposed to be transparent, open and decentralized. Turned out to be a place governed by a few players, highly centralized, opaque and closed. In fact the two most popular sites on the web as of now, Facebook and Google, use what is called a "hidden revenue business model." In other words, users get a service for free, but have no idea of what they're giving away!
I covered both Facebook and Google business models in many of my posts. On the one hand, I have an admiration for the wealth and power those companies were able to accomplish. On the other hand, that also opened my eyes of how the web got lost along the way:
That is why when I dived into the Steem Blockchain world I got pretty excited and couldn't stop thinking about how those companies might be in trouble. Of course, as of now, it's hard to envision that one-day Steemit will take them over. However, the fact that another business model is springing up is already a great signal.
Let's take over Facebook!
Welcome to Steemit! The community needs more people like yourself creating valuable, quality content ;-)
thank you for the support!
You're welcome!
Do read A thumb rule for steemit minnows - 50:100:200:25 for starter tips.
Spend time reading Steem Blue Paper to know how Steem blockchain works and if you still have any queries ask them on our Ask me anything about Steemit post and we will try to answer that.
All the Best!!!
Welcome to Steem @gennarocuofano.
As each day passes my belief gets stronger that Steem will pass facebook. Binance just suprassed Germany's largest bank in profits with 200 employees. With Smart Media Tokens....
thanks for sharing! The SMT model is quite powerful so I also believe the Steem has good chances to win over Facebook, let's see!
INfact the SMT model may be a valid alternative to the ads model. But it is still too early to say if it will work. It may be a good model but if the conditions for it to be used are not mature yet it will not work and will be soon forgotten.
true, still early to say!
I truly feel lucky to be apart of this and watching it unfold at the same time. It will be interesting to see the chess moves made by both parties in this competition.
true, let's see how the story unfolds :)
