Hello STEEM community! I'm @haardikkk

Hey!

I'm a 19 year old Indian who recently shifted to Canada for University. A little bit of my background, I was born and brought up in Delhi, India. I got interested in technology and programming at the age of 9 and started working as a freelancer at age 14. I have since then worked on various projects and learned a lot of new skills. I have been interested in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies since about 2014 when I used to be active on an online BTC rewards based chatroom called CoinChat.

Today, I am pursuing a Computer Science degree from University of Waterloo, Canada.

I have been lurking on Steem for a while but I don't consider myself much of a writer, so I hadn't made an account until a couple days ago when a very random incident made me sign up :D

I had to bus from Waterloo to Richmond Hill, and I got off the bus at Square One, Toronto to switch buses. I was waiting for the traffic light to turn white so I could cross the road as I saw an old man, probably in his late 50s, holding up a sign and moving around. At first sight it looked like he was holding up an advertisement for a shop nearby, but it didn't.

It wrote "SAY NO 2 BANKS - ACCEPT CRYPTOCURRENCY - http://steemit.com/@******"

I don't remember his exact username, but that was so random for me that as soon as I got on the bus from Toronto to Richmond Hill, this was all I could think about. After reading a bit on it, I decided to sign up and just today my account got approved :D

You can probably expect to see programming articles, philosophy, cryptocurrency articles, and a bunch of other random excerpts of my thoughts here :D

Have a good day/night Steem community :D

Hello, @haardikk, and Welcome to Steemit.

To start, I must say your Steemit ID is very interesting (even tho I cannot figure out what it might mean).

Too bad you couldn't snap a photo of that sign holder. I hope you find out his identity ... eventually.

Coincidentally, I'm a Canadian, from near Niagara Falls. And I lived near Delhi, in Gurgaon, for 4 years.

Below are a few basic points of advice re posting on Steemit.

  1. Longer posts are more lucrative than short posts. If you make a post of 20–30 paragraphs, it's more likely to earn rewards.
  2. Include some photos, images or graphs, to complement the text.
  3. Make sure the text and photos are formatted properly, so that your post looks attractive and appealing.
  4. Be yourself.
  5. Be interesting and informative.
  6. Create quality content. Steemit is intended to be a platform of quality content. (You will see many insignificant posts with meager content and no quality. Most of those of posts [called “shitposts” by Steemit whale Stellabelle] will earn few rewards and soon pass into oblivion.)
  7. Get online and start curating. Read various posts, comment on those posts you find interesting, and upvote those posts. That’s the best way to attract followers.

Hope this helps for now. Good luck, and Full Steem Ahead!

Thank you!
My name is actually Haardik, so my Steemit ID is my name followed by some extra 'k's.Hey @majes.tytyty

I tried to capture his photo but sadly my phone had died by then.

Oh jeez I'm planning on visiting Niagara Falls sometime and I actually know a lot of people from Gurgaon, where did you stay there?

Thanks again for the advice, I'll keep them in mind and try to make good posts.

Stayed in Regency Park 1, near the Galleria shopping center. It was okay, but I didn't really like Gurgaon all that much. So, often I travelled either to Goa or the Himalayas or such places.

I see. Himalayas are your friend. Where did you used to go? I am a frequent traveler of the Himalayas too, specifically Kasol and nearby villages.

Old Manali and McLeod Ganj were my fave places. My friends used to tell me (rave about) other places in the Himalayas that were very remote, but I never found time to go there.

Nor did I get to the NorthEast .. Assam, Nagaland, etc. I really would have loved to get there, and had even made some plans which fell through. Then I left India.

Maybe someday ...

Oh I've been there, they're beautiful places. I can't wait to go back home again until later this year. I haven't been to the Northeast either though, I do wish to visit Nepal too. Hopefully, someday we all get to be where we want to be :D

I wish you much success and hope you find Steemit to be as rewarding and informative as I have.
