Introduction! Hello Steemit! My Financial Independence Blog

Hi everyone,

I'm from the Bay Area (California) and I work for a large fortune 500 tech company as a software engineer. I was fortunate enough to be working in such an in demand industry, and started with a 6 figure salary and no student loans. I have been working professionally for about 4 years now, and recently learnt the concept of financial independence and early retirement. (fire, mostly from reddit/r/financialindependence/)

I will be documenting my journey, so new concepts that I learn, new investment opportunities, etc. I will be keeping my identity semi anonymous just because I do plan to share real numbers, like my salary, net worth, investment returns, and it's just easier to keep my identity a secret.

I have been wanting to start a blog for awhile to document my journey, and steemit seems like the perfect platform for me since it mixes blogging, with block-chain tech that i'm both interested in technically and financially (I invest in several alt coins)

Since I did promise to share some current numbers,

I am currently 27, goal is to retire before 40 with a ~2.5 million net worth, so I can have a safe withdrawal rate of 4% and have ~100k a year. I will talk about how I came up with this number in a separate post.

• Current networth: ~200k

  • 61k in 401k
  • 52k in other stock accounts
  • 5000 in crypto (main coins + alts)
  • 50k in a apartment syndication
  • 13k worth of equity in a rental home
  • rest in cash

• Current salary: 165k

• Stock options: ~75k a year depending on market

My goal for 2018 is to raise my net worth to over 350k, I'll talk more on how I plan to achieve that in a following blog post!
