Since you were referred by a reputable Steemian, I assume you know this happens here, a lot, unfortunately. But just in case, F4F (follow for follow), 'please upvote me', typical spam stuff is prevalent here but gets squashed pretty quick once their rep starts falling from so many flags. Ignoring them only works for so long. This is the best way to utilize the flag, imo. I don't think he is a bot, just a spammer.

Yeah, don't feed the spammers with your votes. Ignoring them doesn't cost you anything, but it also doesn't discourage them to stop doing it. Flag if necessary is my opinion :)
