Confessions of an Indolent Mystic #1

A new series detailing my strange, wonderful, and mournful journey to make some sense out of my life

I'm coming up on mid-age here and I've been subjected to enough shit through all these years that I'm not sure if I can handle any more. What kind of shit? The shit I get and have to be around from other people who're just as mortal as I am, just as fallible, just as small (compared to the size of infinity), and just as ignorant. It seems to be precisely the same people who try to remedy any of the aforementioned limitations by specialization in a field of science, a craft, or a spirituality, who're the worst sources of shit. These cosmic assholes just aren't content with their delusion that specialization makes them better equipped for life, they want to use that as an excuse to impose their ignorance and delusion on everyone else - little do any of these cunts realize, the very act of specialization is what makes them dumber and dangerous. There is now so much to know about any one thing these days that a single Human Being is increasingly incapable of synthesizing a broad range of knowledge and experience. Back in the day of our grandparents they called this thing WISDOM, which is near impossible to find today.

On my near-daily coach ride through the countryside to my capital city I passed by a field. In the distance, a column of sheep marched through an open gate into the next field. There was no "sheep dog" (collie) in sight, nor any farmer, beckoning these sheep into the next field. Now, if this picture I'm painting for you wasn't bizarre enough - there was no goddamn wall on either of the this open gate! Despite ample real estate to move through, these sheep took it upon themselves to move to the next field (probably out of habit), and only through a gate. Until that day I was under the impression that the insulting term "sheeple", for people blindly following a status quo, was a merely figurative, but now I see it's a straight up metaphor. We Humans are handicapped by our inability to think as holographically as the universe demands from us in order to be understood. We're happy enough with our imaginary boundaries and fallacious dichotomies which build our models of science and philosophy - not because we're necessarily stupid, but because we just can't see them. It's from atop this shaky foundation we climb, hardening our convictions along the way, only to dictate "downward" at all the little people who don't indulge in our chosen brand of delusion.

Think about it. This is very probably the root of most of our problems here on Earth. Capitalism vs Communism. Creationism vs Big Bang. Mods vs Rockers. < Abrahamic religion here> vs < Abrahamic religion here>. Mac vs PC. There's only ever allowed to be two competing ideas or groups at some time (((for some strange reason.))) And it's not so much the conflict between the two opposing ideas that creates the misery and busywork that's slowly killing Humanity and the environment we live in - it's the collective delusion each side is adhered to, which they share in common, that there could never be a 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th option and that the truth could never be "a little of this and a little of that."

So that's what I mean about being sick of shit.
