Hey folks!
This post has been a long time coming. My friend @ashtv has been selling the good word of Hive to me from back in the day Steemit. I'm excited to get involved in the community!
So let me introduce myself...finally...
My name is Jack, I'm from Yorkshire, UK and I like to shoot things with my camera.
I run my own wedding videography business based in the UK that specialises mainly in luxury and destination weddings. (or at least it did before covid-19 happened🤣) I got into it after shooting weddings a few years ago as a second shooter for some extra cash on top of my main job. In 2017 I decided to give it a go on my own and I was so busy in the following year I decided to take plunge and go full time!
Feel free to check out my website www.mastersonfilm.com
I also shoot a lot of corporate/advertising videos, this being my main job before I did weddings. I've shot lots of things from talking heads to events to budget green screen epics (see images) but in my own time I like to shoot well...everything. Live music, documentaries, stock footage... the list goes on.
You can see some more of that work too at www.jackmasterson.co.uk
I've always wanted to learn photography and over the last few months with lockdown being in effect and a clear schedule I decided now was the time. It's crazy how different yet so similar it is to video.
It's given me a new creative lease of life, I'm still shooting a photo a day and i'm really enjoying the challenge of keeping things fresh. (picture of my daughter below)
Finally, I'm a big retro gamer and learning photography inspired me to start a instagram page photographing my collection so if you're into that please check it out at https://www.instagram.com/retro_masterfrost/
Anyway, thank you for reading my post and please stay tuned for a random assortment of films, videos and retro stuff! I look forward to meeting you all!
Jack x
So glad you’re on here finally. Now maybe @ashtv can shut up about it! Ha ha!
Great introduction. I look forward to reading your posts.
Welcome!
HAHAHA! Thank you!
If you're a friend of @ashtv then you're very welcome here!
Thanks man, I look forward to checking your stuff out, Ash was telling me about it :)
I went through a phase of collecting old retro console stuff but it's hard to find now. Sunday junk markets were great once, around 15-20 years ago. You could get piles of them for nearly nothing. Gamestation was good before it closed down and left our high streets.
Will see you around.
I think people are realising how much they're worth to some folks. Theres a load of fakes popping up everywhere now. Which is fine if you just want to play but if you want to collect its a nightmare.
Welcome to Hive bro! Beautiful photos man!
I am sure @ashtv explained to you how things work around here so no point in telling you this stuff!
Just have fun and enjoy your time here
Thank you! He basically my guide on this until I work things out but, if you've got any pointers i should know i'm all ears.
Aei-up. Welcome to Hive. Looking forward to what you will bring and I hope you find this a great place to share your work.
Thanks for the welcome, I'm looking forward to exploring what it has to offer.
I'll be doing some behind the scenes no doubt. :)
Welcome to Hive mate - have fun exploring what is on offer :)
Thank you! 😀
Hi again Jack, I just delegated a little HIVE POWER to you so that you won't have troubles posting or commenting. On Hive, you need some HIVE POWER for bandwidth for actions, posting, commenting, transactions etc - so now you will be okay :)

.Looking forward to the photos, and post. The top wedding one was excellent, and I like how your daughters photo came out also. She looks like she knows what she is doing modeling for you, and could have a big career in modeling. Not all people especially children can pose and not look like they are posing.
Thank you. Although to be fair I think I got lucky with my daughters photo, it took a few tries and a few bribes of chocolate.
I've kept my camera close to me all of this lockdown and i've had no one else to shoot except my kids. I think they're slowly getting used to the camera being around all the time which I guess is making them more natural around it.
Welcome to the community. Always happy to have fellow videographers on the platform!
Thanks man, I'm looking forward to seeing some of your work. I've just had a quick look at your profile and noticed you have a BMPCC. I've not tried one yet as i've got the a7iii how are you getting one with it? I was thinking of picking one up. :)
I absolutely love the pocket 4K. It is an insanely powerful camera for the price. IMO nothing in its price point beats it.
I may just to get one too try, but i've just seen the R5 and now i'm a bit unsure now.
Honestly, I am really impressed with the R5 but I want to see how good it is firest. I think 120 4k 10bit is amazing but the data rates for the 8k are crazy. 512GB for 20 minutes! The BMP6K can do 6k raw with a 1TB SSD for like 2 hours. I also want to know what compression and the dynamic range of the R5 for video is.
Welcome to the hive :)
its great to have quality image-makers involved. These crypto communites have long been ahead of their time in terms of the potential they can offer, but they too often fall short in terms of content and reach. I reckon we've got a shot at building a better world but somehow we have to work together to show what we can do....
Top quality content like the stuff you just posted here is a damn good start!
Anyway, dont listen to me, Im hardly consistent....just another dreamer :)
Welcome to Hive! I'm going to reblog this post in the Filmmakers community! Enjoy!
Thank you!
Welcome on board! Followed!
Looking forward to your work.

Welcome to Hive! Lots of photographers here, so you should fit in well. Are you using the peakd site? That has options to view photos full screen to properly appreciate them.
Lots of gamers here too who will appreciate your retro stuff. My first gaming was on a simple 'Pong' console and Breakout arcade machines. Happy days :)
Have fun!
Thanks for the welcome! I am using the peakd site, it's all a bit new to me so any tips or recommended content to check out would be grand. It's funny you should mention pong i've just picked up a prinztronic tournament console. Thats super retro :)

Welcome Jack.
I used to be a filmmaker ( who studied film in Uni ) but am a writer ( for ) now.
I'm looking forward to your future posts.
P.S. If you're into retro gaming, you might like my younger brother's work ( he's an indie game maker ). His latest game, probably due in September is called 'Disc Room':
Here's a demo gameplay video of it
See you around! 👋
Hey man sorry I missed this reply. I’m still getting used to Hive. I’ll keep an eye out for your brothers game for sure.
Do you still make films anymore?
No worries, I totally get it. Some people have a life too ;<)
I cancelled my last film project in January last year, when I officially moved to Portugal ( from The Netherlands ). Since November last year my focus has been on writing a novel, now children's book ( suitable for adults too ) on the life of a dino called Hypersensitivosaurus.
Filmmaking has no priority for me now, even though people are reaching out to me every now and then with more and less interesting offers. Let's say that I'm not very good at multitasking and tackling multiple projects at the same time isn't my thing.
See you around! ✨
