Welcome to the steemit community @circulartimes. There is a lot to learn for all this stuff, as I'm relatively new also, still, but the good thing is there are plenty of people who offer insight as to how all this works. Probably the most important thing I could offer you in tips, is never, ever give your keys to anyone, and only post, upvote or comment with the posting key. That way if anyone manages to get your password, they could not move any money. The active key is used to move money around. The only use for the master key is to replace one of the others if they are compromised.
Along with all the others, we also have @welcomewagon and @steemterminal who offer to teach quite a bit of the essentials for newbees!
Hopefully you'll find all kinds of interesting stuff here, as I did, and the most important thing to remember is to have fun, and as @shadowspub says, "it's all about community"...
