Hey there Steemers! I'm really jazzed to be on Steemit. My name is Jason, often referred to by friends and colleagues as JB. This is obviously my first post and my #introduceyourself post.
Little bit about myself
SO, a little bit about myself. Where to start? I'm in my late 40's and have a lovely wife of 25 years. I've got three great sons. One in University, one in High School and the other in Middle School. Yes, a bit of a spread but I really can't complain - the boys are great, as I said.
I'm Canadian and live up in the Great White North, just outside of Toronto. Yes, like all Canadians I say ABOOT and not ABOUT(although I really can't hear that), I spell funny - centre instead of center - and I have been known to slip an 'eh' in every now and then :-)
In my younger years, I'm quite proud to say, that I spent a bit of time in the Canadain Military.

While I'm proud of that period of service I was also lucky enough not to have seen any combat. Went to college after that and spent the next 20 years in the software industry, started and ran an online nutritional B2B site for a while, sold it, and then went off into the corporate world.
From a philosophical standpoint, I'm a Humanist and I'm pretty active in the local community coaching hockey, volunteering at the Legion and helping out where I can.
What I hope to do on Steemit
I'm hoping that I can extend my philosophy to the Steemit community and be a positive contributor, in the various ways that one can on Steemit. I intend to draw on my life experiences and post things relevant to parenting, supporting veterans, being a Humanist and on the lighter side some Canadiana(Yes, I like to laugh at some of the stereotypes - we can all share in a good laugh).
Oh, I also consider myself an amateur, really amateur author. I've been working on a novel for the past 10 years and have about 25,000 words completed. I'll probably release a chapter or two each month. This might just be the impetus to get the darn thing done.
