Hello. I’ve been learning about Steemit, blockchain and cryptocurrency. It’s very exciting! I have written a few posts during my learning phase, but I am ready to really jump in and become an active, contributing member.
Here's me - in a picture that is a few years old. (I am typically the photographer, not the subject, so it's hard to find pictures of myself.)
A little about me
I love to write, and have done so all of my life in one form or another. Professionally, I write quite a bit in my role as a content strategist, so I always have my hand in content. This past year I returned to writing fiction after a long hiatus while family life and career were all-consuming. I have arrived at a time in my life when I not only believe I have the something-something to write well and get published, but I am able to commit the time.
In thinking how I can best contribute to the Steemit community, I decided to start a Steemit writing workshop. The idea is to create discussions around the craft of writing, provide lessons to help those who feel stuck or may benefit from instruction, build community, and help us all to get feedback on our work. The workshop will explore every aspect of writing (primarily fiction), with a focus on developing the skills to succeed. You can see the launch post here: Writing workshop volume 1: The beginning
I also love photography, and I spend a lot of time photographing my family, my dog, and scenes in nature. (I’m super excited about Appics!) So, I plan to get active with sharing photos as well. Here is an autumn photo I took yesterday on the trails near my office, slightly digitally enhanced.
My other passions are reading, traveling, fooding (is that thing?), and friends. One of the best possible things is a combination of those, such as traveling with my book club gals, cooking together and discussing books we are reading. Finally, I love community and information sharing. I believe social media (and of course Steemit in particular) helps to make the world a smaller, more accessible place.
I look forward to making friends here on Steemit, helping to build community around the written and visual arts, and of course exploring where the cryptocurrency adventure will take us all. I'd like to thank my brother-in-law, @preparedwombat, for introducing me to Steemit!
