It's been a wild ride this first week+ on Steemit. I went from excited to discouraged to excited and determined. I started as a hopeful pawn, trying desperately to make it to the other side of the board. Now I control my own destiny, and I stealthily crawl from position to position, knowing that only time stands between me and the kingship I desire.
When I first started, I did a little research, but not enough. I knew it was a numbers game, but when i upvoted, I never got a curation reward? Why? Because as the number of Steemian faithful continues to grow, so does the Steem Power required to make profits on upvoting. Besides the fact that I do upvote quality posts even though they aren't worth anything. But I kept trucking along, playing with my timing, putting every dollar made from MY posts back into Steem Power at first.
Now, I have gone from a reputation of 25 to 52 last time I checked. I have gone from a little over 3 Steem Power to over 121. I have made around $200 SBD. I've had some hits and some misses. I've been both amazed and curios as to some of my results when posting. I've noticed a few voting trends that seem to be fairly constant, and defy logic in the normal sense. I suppose posting on Steemit is a bit like advertising on TV, it's all psychological, and the subliminal counts!!!!
As I continue my journey from Minnow to Dolphin, I'm sure I'll learn some more tricks and strategies. This is after all a chess game in social media. The board is ever changing, and the winning gambit today may be a fools errand tomorrow. Stay tuned for more updates on my journey from me and Max the Wonderdog in the frozen tundra.
Good to hear it's working for you. I need to find a balance for how much time I spend here to get some reward. I'm not making anything from curation yet, but that may come in time. For now I'll just have fun with it
Having fun is what social media is really all about. If you make a little money in the process that's fine. But especially on here, remember not to let the quest for money or power cloud the reason we all joined a social network to begin with.
There is no Jedi Master on Steemit - the goals are constantly changing! Tis' a toughie to get the fundamentals down first - but they soon iron themselves out! Good luck.
