My name is Jon Cursi and I'm brandy new to the Steemit platform! It's nice around here, so I thought I'd pop in and say "Hi"!
I'm a software developer with a passion for cryptocurrency and user experience. Combining these together, I recently launched a new app called Cheddur, your personal guide to digital currency. You can download it for free on iOS and Android!
The goal of Cheddur is to empower anyone (not just the tech savvy) to get started with any digital currency - in a fun and easy way, at the fraction of the time it would otherwise take. Use it to learn about any coin or service, watch videos, read and write reviews, share your coin addresses with friends, and a lot more! It's built from the ground up with beginners in mind, so no experience is required! :)

it's not often we see intro posts that are promoting a project that's already up and running, so I think it's great that you want to share your app with the Steemit community.
I will have to check out the app myself, but from the description, it seems like it would be very useful. I'm curious about what made you decide to start this project, where did the inspiration for the name come from, and how long have you been working on it?
I think many Steemians could benefit from this app, so I hope you'll take the time to get to know the platform and engage other users in the community.

I've been working on the Cheddur app for almost 2 years now. I know that's a super long time to get to market, but I ended up coding the entire thing myself (iOS, Android, website, backend) and had to learn a ton of stuff along the way! It took hundreds of prototypes and UX testing to finally get to this point, but I'm thrilled to finally announce version 1! :)
This app is a digital representation of what I (and many of you) have already been doing in-person for the last few years. We've been "crypto technical support" for all of our friends and family, helping them to get started, answer questions, guide them through forks, helping them choose the best wallets and exchanges, understand the difference between coins, etc. I believe that digital currency is fundamentally changing the world, and I wanted more people to benefit from this technology than just those in my inner circle. I couldn't find an existing platform that was replicating the level of support I was giving in-person to my friends and family, so I decided to build the free platform I've always wanted. Someone needed to build it, so why not me? :)
The name "Cheddur" comes from the word "cheddar", which is a type of cheese (I know!) but is also slang for "money" / "cash" / "dough". My soon-to-be-fiance came up with the name! We had a few contenders in mind, but chose "Cheddur" because we had secured the ".com" domain name, and that's super important for usability! :)

Thanks for such a great response! Glad your work is paying off now. I hope that people will be able to take advantage of the services your app can offer. I know that I've had to explain the blockchain and cryptocurrencies to many people before, and it can be challenging. I hope I'll be able to use your app as a resource.
I just downloaded the app and registered after going through the 13 step "basics" intro. First of all, I like the aesthetics. Everything is visually pleasing, and it looks very professional. The Basics tutorial does a good job of introducing the concepts behind cryptocurrencies in an easy-to-understand way. Once the tutorial is over, I like that there are so many options available to me, especially since I am familiar with the currencies, but it might still be a bit overwhelming for someone who has never used cryptocurrencies before. Maybe I just missed more tutorial features, but those are my first thoughts.
I also like that you can add coins to your watchlist. I think it would be useful if when you click the blue plus button to add a coin, it didn't close out back to the main screen so you could continue adding coins. Maybe just have the plus button change colors or something. Just a small time-saving thing when adding coins to the list.
I'll keep exploring the app to see all of the features, but I'm glad I came across your intro post today. Thanks for sharing, and I look forward to hearing more from you in the future.
Wow, thank you for taking the time to download the app and put it through it's paces! I'm really happy to see that you "get it" and see the value it can bring to this ecosystem. I really do hope that you'll be able to point your friends and family to this app as the ultimate starting point and companion on their crypto journey. It'll take some of the burden off of you and spread it onto the technology. Computers FTW :)
Great catch on the watchlist portion! I should be able to update that logic to use checkboxes (multiple select) instead of radio buttons (single select). :)
I agree that the home screen is still a bit advanced for first-time users. We tried to explain those initial concepts and bring in the imagery (e.g. the ICO and launch icons) during the 13 step "Learn the Basics" intro. This way when the user lands on the Home screen for the first time, they'll have an idea of what's going on. But I know we can do better, and we'll certainly be improving that initial experience over time! :)
