Its my Birthday, Im 30, and alone, or am i?
From a 28k modem, i trained with the Imperial Order (IO) of X-Wing Alliance on Zone.Com
I fought on a 56k modem in Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2 with the same.
Age of Empires 2 with my own crew the Wizards of Chaos (WOC) kizmet and company, we even laughed about designing game, had this whole world scoped out.
And the real world, sure it happened, but it was just a backdrop.
Then the zone was finally gone (anyone remember it?) and it threw asunder the clans.
1942, ahh those were the days, that M1, well that and all those days, CSS and the deagle, COD2 and once again the M1, it was certainly a renaissance age of FPS.
A gamer, but always a musician, the oddity in the circles offline, oh how i could tell you, Ozzy Osbourne war pigs driving along a freeway in a friends car puffing a reefer out the window, haha, or stoned as shit, playing badinerie with a classical flute player, just for fun, but this crosses over with the days of pwnage at this point.
Pure Pwnage
I remember, i was 16 and a friend of mine said "never go to this websites forums its full of trolls" and being the controversial chap that i always was, the next night, i of course did just that.
By this time i was running very bad ADSL, but good enough all the same, i found myself instantly immersed in the community, this was just pre you-tube and the show had a cult following, about this time, i was in my late years of high school, and suffice to say, thinking the world would never end smoke and games seemed like the ticket, i was not much of an academic back then, not like now...
As most of us gamers did, back then, World of Warcraft came out, and i played, i ventured through Azeroth, i actually played on an RP server, Silverhand, i don't remember the guilds name, i do remember though the leaders were a gentleman and his wife Teilia, who had a heart condition and not expected to live terribly long, i hope she is well, i was good friends with her husband and we all chatted often.
Theres a legendary gamer by the name of Denwo (Owned backwards) who later featured in Pure Pwnage, hes the guy Jeremy fights in the tetris battle, well, i will never forget, one day, im playing WoW on silverhand, chatting with Teilia and her Husband while sitting on the Pure Pwnage teamspeak server (we ran TS2 back then) stoned out of my god dam mind, and Denwo comes in the room, hes like "mate i gotta go out theirs no other admins on, can you look after this?" and im like "yeah sure man" i was very different in my younger years.
So they made me a server admin, and they just left it, because i was a good one, and so unfolded that piece of history, haha, all the people, i may not remember you all by callsign, but i do remember all of you, the good, the bad and the ugly.
Not a lot of people know, the line in episode 6 of pure pwnage "first i asked denwo, then i asked skrie, then i asked kashmir_z but he said something about his mum" is actually a reference to one of my best friends Anticamper, story go's we were chilling on the TS one day, and Geoff drops in, he was drinking i was stoned and we were telling ya mumma jokes, we never used to get all fan boy about the PP crew because we spoke with them often, so we just kept telling jokes, and the rest is history, he used to call himself Anticamper - Ya Mum as a joke, so they threw the joke in the show, but so few people know that.
That said i was high as a kite in those days, and playing music like a boss, 18, 19 and during that time, chilling with Pure Pwnage i forged KSA, the Ka Soviet Alliance.
It was actually a joke to begin with, i was pretty high one day, on the TS as always, i live on the web, callsign of 1337fellah he was a younger lad from Estonia, his mother worked for the government and i was always flirting with his sister, one day we finish a game of i think it was CSS but im not sure, and hes like we need a kashmir clan, and im like "thats a bit pretentious to name a clan with your own name" so how about we call it the Ka Soviet Alliance.
Ka, because i had been at this point a huge dark tower fan (wtf happened with the movie right?) and just soviet for lol's because he was from Estonia and we played a lot of Red Alert 2 (command and conquer) in those days and i always played soviet, and alliance, spanning back to me when i was 11, on zone playing X Wing Alliance.
Well, i did not realize i had such a business mind in me, within 3 months i had rallied over 500 members to our cause, and we held our own against TOG and all of the major players, i threw all my money into it, gave my members everything, it faded away, but only because i let it.
Life changed, times changed, its a long story, but at the time KSA happened, that was my "year off" end of highschool, and my father is like a pretty cool guy, he was like "take a whole year" so i did, but at the end, time changed and i think at the time i let KSA fall apart we had nearly 900 members ...
Then the adult years, i had played Eve Online back in the pure pwnage days, but pure pwnage was long and over by this point, but i still loved the game, back when, we ran out own pure pwnage corporation which you can still look up to this day, but it was just for fun.
But when i returned to the game it was on my own, were talking 2009 - 2010 at this stage? I remember i met with a man Rocco, who i have lost contact with but we were chilling in an asteroid belt one day, drinking, i had long stopped smoking green at this point and used to buy a case of wild turkey for the weekend, and we hit it off.
He had an idea, i had a passion, next thing, legacy of the stars was formed, and i put together everything, the corp, the site, the forums the everything, so many good people who's callsigns i forget from that corp, but we were amazing,we were so tight, our formations were lazer point, i really regret my memory failing me, because we had at one point over 400 members, but, it was a long time ago and my memory fails me.
Time drifts then.
For the longest time i was not anywhere, then i wound up in guild wars 2, i met some interesting french people, that took me in as an outcast, good people lots of fun, but i eventually left that world.
And since then, nothing static, just idle gamers here or there. i play League of Legends these days, if any of you all reading this do the same, feel free to drop me a line.
I got in into Crypto about a year ago, seriously, i see it as my only future.
What will be? i don't know, this is not a comprehensive account of my life by no means, but its a good overview, today i am 30 my name is Kashmir_Z
