I first found out about cryptocurrency back when Bitcoin first came out. I foolishly blew it off as something that was too complicated for the average user and would never catch on. A couple years later I was completely shocked when I found out how much it was worth and that I missed the boat on it. I started getting involved with Scrypt-based coins which I could mine with my graphics card. I was blown away. I made enough money to buy a new computer to dedicate just to mining. I setup the rig in my garage and went to work. I had a pretty conservative dual AMD Radeon RX270 but it was enough to rack up quite a bit of Dogecoin at the time. I made a paper wallet and kept it in a safe place.
Eventually I decided to cash out my Dogecoin that I made in exchange for Bitcoin, which is easier to convert to fiat. Unfortunately, I did not do my research and put my hard earned Dogecoin onto an exchange called Cryptsy, which now has an open lawsuit against it for basically running off with their customers' money. As you an imagine, this left a pretty sour taste in my mouth. I wound up converting my mining rig into a gaming machine.
The recent surge in the prices of Bitcoin and Ethereum got me interesting in crypto again. I also for funsies did a "price check" of the Dogecoin I had lost. It came out to around $9,000. I was floored. I decided maybe I would give cryptocoin another shot.
I reset the password for my old Coinbase account and to my surprise there were multiple currencies I could purchase: Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum. I did my research on Ethereum and decided to create a digital wallet on my phone using Coinomi. I'm now invested in a bunch of what I call "functional" cryptocurrencies like Siacoin, LBRY and Namecoin.
I'm also back to mining in my garage and I use my gaming rig with a GTX1070 to mine LBC (LBRY Coin) while I'm not using it. I am very long on cryptocurrency now. I'm doing my best not to look at the short term gains and losses. I am hoping to reevaluate my crypto-portfolio (cryptofolio?) in ~3-5 years and find that it has paid off my house.
I have tried and failed many things over the years but I truly believe that crypto can be my way to financial freedom.

Thank you! It's pretty amazing the way everything is becoming decentralized. The internet is changing very quickly and I don't think many people notice at the moment.
Despite the dip today and some people freaking out the future is only begining! Non of the people around me including family and friends have no idea about crypto. I have been telling friends to by BTC since it was around 350USD but none did...... STEEM on!
