Nací en Venezuela, hija de padre venezolano y madre española. Hermana de cuatro mujeres y dos hombres. Me veo como esa persona de sangre española y sabor venezolano que en casa prepara empanadas y las acompaña con tortilla española o esta última con fabada asturiana y si por mis hijos fuera, un pabellón criollo venezolano con Späzles Schwabes alemanes tan a menudo como sea posible, estas son algunas de las cosas que son muy normales en mi casa. Mezclas gastronómicas como estas son algo muy típico en casa de cualquier familia multinacional.
Pero nada como un periquito de atún con arepitas un domingo por la mañana, verdad?
I was born in Venezuela, daughter of a Venezuelan father and a Spanish mother. Sister of four women and two men. I see myself as that person with Spanish blood and Venezuelan flavor who at home prepares empanadas and accompanies them with Spanish tortilla or the latter with Asturian fabada and if it were for my children, a Venezuelan pabellón criollo with German Späzles Schwabes as often as possible, these are some of the things that are very normal in my house. Gastronomic mixtures like these are very typical at home in any multinational family.
But nothing like a tuna periquito with arepitas on a Sunday morning, right?😉
Mi infancia fue, sin duda alguna, la mejor infancia que un niño pueda tener. Crecí en Palma Sola, una urbanización a las orillas del mar Caribe, entre Morón y Puerto Cabello, un lugar soñado y espectacular, lugar que lamentablemente hoy por hoy no es ni la sombra de esa Palma Sola de mis recuerdos, pero eso ahora no viene al caso. En la Palma Sola de mis recuerdos, me veo correteando por las playas entre miles de palmas de coco, jugando con una manta raya bebé que de vez en cuando le encantaba visitarme y jugar conmigo o tratando de surfear con las tablas de los amigos de mis hermanos mayores, donde era más el agua que tragaba que lo que surfeaba, pero igual me divertía en grande.
My childhood was, without a doubt, the best childhood a child could have. I grew up in Palma Sola, an urbanization on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, between Morón and Puerto Cabello, a dreamed and spectacular place, a place that unfortunately today is not even the shadow of the Palma Sola of my memories, but that is not the case now. In the Palma Sola of my memories, I see myself running along the beaches among thousands of coconut palms, playing with a baby manta ray that from time to time loved to visit me and play with me or trying to surf with the boards of my older brothers' friends, where the water I swallowed was more than what I surfed, but I still had a lot of fun.
Crecí en en mundo de aventuras infantiles, en la que siempre mis dos hermanos pequeños y yo estábamos de expedición, conociendo las alcantarillas y tuberías aún sin uso de las construcciones nuevas en la urbanización, eran nuestros escondites favoritos, siempre tras la búsqueda de “preciados tesoros” - cualquier caracolito, concha marina, palo, ramita, espiga de monte, cien pies o sapo era un tesoro. Pienso que conocí toda la urbanización por arriba y por debajo 😉 también empacábamos plátanos, aceite y sartén y nos íbamos de “picnic” a freír plátanos debajo de un sauce que era la sala de nuestra “casa”.
I grew up in a world of childhood adventures, in which my two younger siblings and I were always on expeditions, getting to know the sewers and unused pipes of the new constructions in the urbanization, they were our favorite hiding places, always in search of "precious treasures" - any little snail, seashell, stick, twig, bush spike, hundred feet or toad was a treasure. I think I knew the whole development from above and below 😉 we would also pack plantains, oil and frying pan and go on "picnics" to fry plantains under a willow tree which was the living room of our "house".
Más tarde nos mudamos a Valencia, terminé la escuela primaria y bachillerato y comencé la universidad. Viví en Caracas algunos años, luego en Puerto la Cruz para finalmente encaminar mi rumbo a Alemania, donde ya una de mis hermanas vivía con su familia, quienes me acogieron en su hogar por un tiempo.
Later we moved to Valencia, I finished elementary and high school and started university. I lived in Caracas for a few years, then in Puerto la Cruz and finally headed for Germany, where one of my sisters was already living with her family, who took me into their home for a while.
En el año 2000 conocí a quien hoy es mi esposo, nos casamos en el 2003, compramos una casa y tuvimos dos hijos. En el 2005 nació mi hija y en el 2009 mi hijo. Así que mi esposo y yo cumplimos 21 años de conocernos y ademas cumpliremos este año mayoría de edad matrimonial 🥳🥰
In 2000 I met the man who is now my husband, we got married in 2003, bought a house and had two children. In 2005 my daughter was born and in 2009 my son. So my husband and I have known each other for 21 years and this year we will also celebrate our coming of age.
Llevamos una vida tranquila y armoniosa y amamos muchísimo hacer cosas juntos, por ejemplo nuestros “roadtrips” a donde sea. Bien pudiese ser a un parque, una ciudad cercana, un lago, montañas, o incluso hasta salidas un poco más radicales, en las que empacamos nuestras cuatro cosas y nos vamos por carretera a otros países, naturalmente con previa organización y reservación de locations, pero al fin y al cabo muy radical, bien sea en una aldea en el medio de la nada, en un pueblito antiguo o una gran ciudad. Nos gustan más los paseos y “expediciones” por carretera que en avión, aunque debo reconocer que en Europa semejante idea es más costosa, pero nosotros amamos muchísimo conocer los hermosos paisajes que nos ofrece Europa y naturalmente disfrutamos mucho más de estar juntos y conocer tanto como nos es posible, es una experiencia simplemente fabulosa.
We lead a quiet and harmonious life and we love doing things together, for example our roadtrips to wherever. It could be to a park, a nearby city, a lake, mountains, or even a bit more radical trips, in which we pack our four things and go by road to other countries, of course with previous organization and reservation of locations, but at the end of the day very radical, whether in a village in the middle of nowhere, in an old town or a big city. We like road trips and "expeditions" more than flying, although I must admit that in Europe such an idea is more expensive, but we love very much to know the beautiful landscapes that Europe offers us and naturally we enjoy much more to be together and to know as much as possible, it is a simply fabulous experience.
El año 2020 fue un año casi que inexistente en nuestras cabezas porque nos hace falta nuestra rutina de irnos a dónde sea en vacaciones, pero ese año fue imposible por razones de la pandemia del Corona Virus, así que nos quedamos tranquilos en casa e hicimos reformas en en jardín...
Los confinamientos en Europa son bastante estrictos y debo confesar que miedo también tenemos de contagiarnos, pero al parecer está bastante controlado todo, así que mientras existan confinamientos sobreviviremos con los recuerdos de nuestras aventuras, que tengo pensado irlos dejando plasmados en próximas publicaciones en esta maravillosa plataforma.
The year 2020 was a year almost non-existent in our heads because we need our routine of going anywhere on vacation, but that year was impossible due to the Corona Virus pandemic, so we stayed quietly at home and we did some renovations in the garden...
The confinements in Europe are quite strict and I must confess that we are also afraid of catching it, but apparently everything is quite controlled, so as long as there are confinements we will survive with the memories of our adventures, which I plan to leave in future publications on this wonderful platform.
