I've been stumbling around her for the last few weeks and enjoying the new platform smell. Now I thought it is time to introduce myself.
My name of choice is m0se and I'm from Switzerland. For the last three years I spent most of my spare time following the latest developments in crypto land and playing with all this amazing new toys.
So I will start out in this post with my steem and crypto interests and leave my other passions which include Yoga, Music in general and the creation of electronic music, Photografie and a few others to my next posts.
My experience with Steem so far
I only ended up here because I bought some steem at bittrex just dasy before the price exploded. I'm honestly still trying to remember why I bought steem. I've never been trating Alts before, except for buying the 1k DASH for my masternode. I wanted to give it a shot and put 1BTC in 5 diffrent Alts. The other four where projects I knew and followed to some degree like AMP or FACTUM and two others, but I have no idea what led me to pickup Steem. Anyhow it was a very lucky pick. I sold halve at the top and vested the other halve in this account,.. thats how I got here.
Normaly I look at things from a technical side, so it took me some time to find out for my self if there is some substance behinde Steem, befor vesting hlave of my lucky pick and thereby rendering it iliquid.
So I started to play and here is what I was able to do independant of steemit.com so far:
- Creating a real Cold/Offline owner key with a web based wallet tool
- Build a docker that compiles the latest version of steem from github
- Using my own steem node to:
- update my owner key
- create a account for a friend while the sign-up was closed
- transfer and vest steem
This was enough to convince me the steem is real and not just a central web site as some people have claimed. As a next step will try to get piston runing on my own infrastructure. Piston is a awesome python/Flask project by @xeroc that provides a alternative self-hostable frontend for the steems read, post and upvoder functions. piston already works on my system, but still is pulling the data from a API service run by the developer. But if I get my steem node configured correctly, I should be able to connect piston directly to my local steem node and be able to use steem completly without any external service. (Except Images, as only text is stored in the block chain.)
My other Cryptos
After beeing a few months in Bitcoin early 2014, I started looking at other project in the space and was instantly fascinated by the web3 vision of Ethreum. I've been following the project very closely since.
I never turned my back on Bitcoin and still am a firm believer and hodler of Bitcoin, but Ethereum and the concept of fully decentralized wab applications is what gets my imagination really going.
Other related projects I experimented with include IPFS, where I did sort of a PoC implementation of a nodejs based youtube backup and video browse tool on top (https://github.com/m0se/wcn-ipfs-archive) and now playing with steem.
After mining Bitcoin for the last two winters with two S4 Antmines at home and having to stop as it was getting warmer. I decided to start a DASH Masternode instead.
wellcome
