Hi Steemit Community!
My name is Madison, but feel free to call me Mattie. I am currently a senior at Chapman University, and will be receiving a degree in software engineering and studio art.
Here are some fun facts about me:
1) I grew up in a small beach town in San Diego county called Carlsbad. 
My parents own a small business in the middle of town, so needless to say I grew up in a community where everybody knew everybody!
2) I recently returned from studying abroad in New Zealand for 6 months!
My university gave me the opportunity to study abroad in New Zealand, where I attended Victoria University of Wellington for software engineering. During this time I was able to explore the two islands, and was warmly welcomed into their culture.
3) Photography is a major interest of mine
Whether it be just taking photos at new locations, or videoing my surroundings, you can always find me with a camera on hand.
4) I am a 2 year collegiate athlete.
I am part of the 10% of college students who participate in sports at the collegiate level. For two years I pitched for the Chapman University softball team, at the NCAA Division III level.
5)I am on my way to becoming a certified scuba diver!
While abroad, I visited Cairns, Queensland, Australia where I completed 2 beginner dive courses, which sparked my interest to become officially certified, and am set to complete certification at the end of July!

Hey Mattie @madexplorer welcome to steemit. I like your username. I love photography and traveling a lot and in the past 2 years I have covered most of Europe and am very proud of that :) actually photography and traveling go hand in hand. New Zealand must have been very exciting for you..Never been there but would love to visit someday.

Hi Madison, Welcome to Steemit. I live in Arizona and also was a college athlete. I'm jealous of your time in New Zealand. I have always wanted to go there.
It is definitely a destination I recommend taking, especially if you love the outdoors, movies like Lord of the Rings! But the best part is meeting so many kind-hearted people!
Seems like a pretty magical place. I want to go to Australia for awhile as well.
