Distinguish the Original and Counterfeit Honey

in #introduceyourself7 years ago (edited)

Honey is indeed one of the most widely used natural beverage ingredients in the community. But because of the very large needs then there is only a fake honey products that are then sold freely.

It is quite difficult to see real honey and fake honey only from the packaging alone. Honey is actually the nectar material that bees get from the flowers. Then the nectar will be collected in the honeycomb to undergo three stages of processing in it.

The first stage of the enzyme produced by the bees will mix with the nectar, then go into the fermentation process for nectar. Then the process produces honey and in the final stages all the liquid in the honey will come out and the remaining pure honey.

Original Honey is pure honey produced by honey bees both wild honey bees and breeders that are not mixed with any ingredients and do not undergo processing that cause changes or loss of the content in the honey such as pasteurization process.

Pasteurization of honey is a process of heating in honey which aims to reduce water content in honey, turn off diastase enzymes and microorganisms (not all other microorganisms are turned off) other pure honey. This is because enzymes and microorganisms in the honey can emit gas and foam.

The pasteurization process is generally done by sellers of honey packaging market such as in pharmacies, minimarkets and others with the aim that the honey does not remove foam, gas and fermentation that can damage packaging such as bottle bubbling up the bottle cap open.
Original honey can indeed be seen with very little or no water content. This is different from the type of fake honey added with water and sugar. To see the composition of water in honey then you can pour a teaspoon of honey into the paper. Separate the paper for the original honey and fake honey. After that wait until three minutes, then the result is:

Original Honey: because the water content is little or no at all then the paper with the honey on it will not be hollow. No piece of water pierces the paper.
False honey: because it contains water then the marks of honey on paper will leave marks or tears.
