It is a little bit maddening for sure. Historians are tasked with being as impartial as possible (while also acknowledging the impossibility of impartiality), but sometimes the answer seems so blatantly obvious, no matter how you package it. Humans have progressed over the millennia, but they haven't at the same time. I suppose it depends how you look at it.

There are different kinds of historians. We can contrast between the different kinds of historians to see the different perspectives, biases, and everything else, that may be there in the history that they have written or talk about and stuff.... it is important to see the different sides before deciding what we may or may not want to believe and stuff....
